and I haven't been chat banned or 7 day banned before, ever. (and I've been here since pre-season 4.)
Riot doesn't just randomly ban people for the lulz.
Chances are, you deserved it, or in the more rare cases, you got a little bit more severe punishment than deserved, but you still deserved some type of punishment.
Either way, just don't be toxic or cheat and you'll be fine.
I got reported for saying "Gems" in all chat. I got the notification for it too. I didn't know gems offended people so much yet screaming sexist slurs at me is a-ok. Oh well, I'm just going to keep on being fabulous and let the haters hate.
I've been playing since mid-season(ish) 2 and I've never gotten punished, nor have I ever received a warning despite being enveloped in a never-ending torrent of salt every time I read the patch notes let alone log into the game.
How? Because I'm not an idiot.
Once, when I was but a level 6, I was feeding hard and my friend decided to take over and stomp while simultaneously being as over-the-top "GG EZZ" as you can imagine. That's the only time I've been reported.
i agree whole heartedly. i started in 2013 have never been anything banned never gotten a warning even. i report the toxic and poisonous and have had a green ribbon for almost 3 years now. seriously i know ive been reported a few times ( hey everyone has a bad game or tilts sometimes) but they are far and few between.
so seriously not everyone gets banned. and if you are you prolly did do bad things to get you there.
pro tip: stop typing your obscenities to the community. just scream at your computer get it out and don't spread the poison

am pretty sure riot doesn't carefully monitor millions of accounts to see if the reports are legit or not. they probably ban accounts after a certain amount of time. in my last 8 matches or so i had 4 duo trolls that fed every lane and vote no in the surrender vote. game ends they report me. its a stupid automated system. i dont see why are you making a thread to defend a multi billion company
I got a chat restriction a while ago. I don't relentlessly insult people, but I do tend to chastise them if they do something stupid. (The game that probably prompted the chatban, I was blamed for my ADC dying after I had told her to back. Enemy Quinn ulted in and killed her. I told her no way, was her own damn fault.)
While in my first game of my chat restriction, I was called bitch and all manner of slurs... for simply outplaying the enemy Diana. Like, I see this but I'm the one that gets the restriction?
BUT I do think some people complaining about their punishments aren't telling the full story. Riot's system is unfair in a small number of cases, but not all of them.
Don't act like their system is spotless.
I remember how they rolled out with the whole Chat Restriction farce two seasons ago. Lyte said himself how perfect it was at the time (Minus overlapping restrictions... Ha, that shit was funny as all Hell, honestly. Still got screenies of how absurd it was).
On the very first day and the following 18 months I was basically permanently chat restricted. Then without myself changing in-game behavior one bit (I'd go as far as saying it got only worse) it suddenly and completely stopped.

I've only gotten penalized once and that was like early S5, when I first started playing, and it was just a chat penalty where I'd only get like 5 messages every 10 minutes or whatever, and I definitely admit I deserved it. I was so annoying then and didn't really have a grasp on the behavior rules or anything, so since then, I've stopped doing the bullshit I was doing and I haven't had a problem since then

Or maybe you are just lying, ya I'll bet you are just lying. That or you aren't very good at this game and have no competitive bone in your body... even pros get pissed off at trolls. People get banned all the time for stupid shit.. How many people have you known that has every got banned for trolling? 0 because Riot can only ban people when there is valid proof in chat.. so if your logic is that people got banned cause they deserve it then why is there so many trolls running around playing hundreds of games and never get so much as a slap on the wrist?
