Things you CAN'T do in ARAM

Yes, ARAM is a fun mode but that doesn't mean that you can do absolutely anything you want. And by that I mean things that make the game NOT FUN for your teammates like:

  • Insulting, harassing, use of slurs.
  • Feeding in purpose all game. (no, i don't mean a couple of bad decisions of having a bad game, I mean going in purpose 1v5 without the team to die under their turret all game)
  • Taking health relics in the faces of your teammates that need them when you are full health and mana just to piss them off.

You want to build AD Morgana? Go ahead. I have no problem with that. But I see the mentioned behavior quite too often and people reply things like "who cares this is ARAM." Well no, you insult or say "%%%" or "n-word" or insult teammates? You get reported. Your attitude is negative all game just to piss off your teammates? You get reported. ARAM is a fun mode. So if you make the game NOT FUN for your teammates with an unacceptable behavior, you shouldn't play this mode and you get reported. That's all.

When you say ''you're reported'' the most likely answer you'll get is something among the lines of '' i dont give a **** ''

But 1v5ing under tower is a legitimate ARAM strategy... for Karthus!

Snowballs in to say high to the low health player, dies, kills them anyway, and nukes the entire enemy team while doing so. Respawn with a shiny new item 3089 , repeat, penta, victory!

I do that all the time with friends though.

I mean, we burn flashes just to piss people off on the skype call, they end up dying faster too so it is worth.

the only thing i need to add to this is... dont play any adcs besides ez and kog with tear...

Droogzy10/19/2015, 7:00:02 PM2 votes

I always take tear on Varus... o.O

It literally becomes never ending arrows from start to finish of the game, yeah you can do more damage with pick axe, but you go OOM so quick.

Things you SHOULDN'T do in ARAM: -Don't roll a champion without asking first: there might be someone who wants Rammus, Evelynn or Nasus. Personal note: I keep the tank, even if I've just played 5 games of the same thing and am dead tired of it, if the team doesn't have another tank, and I can't trade.

-When you're going for a glyph, and there is another ally a bit further back, also wanting a glyph, you go for the glyph further down - don't be Draven (narcissistic) and just take the first one. Personal note: sharing is caring.

-Let the healer get the glyphs: if you're playing ADC, but low on HP, and the healer got full HP, but low on mana, the healer got priority. If you're playing mage, and is low on both HP and mana, that's up to individual judgement. Just remember the healer/support cannot do anything without mana. The mages usually got Doran's Ring for mana regen, whereas the support doesn't have that. Personal note: I try to let the mages take the farm for mana regen through their Doran's.

...................

Edit: One should never NOT feed the poro.

Replace ARAM with Dominion/Twisted Treeline/One for all and it still works

I know this one all to well. I sometimes try to get back guys who do that later by doing it to them, but I really don't feel like I solve any problems that way and it definitely doesn't help the team. I think riot should just make a special report option for that mode called "relic hog". you don't get banned for that one, but enough of those in a row marks you as a relic hog and lets teammates know that you troll people out of relics, so you might want to sit on empty shrines when low on health .__.

I played poro king once against a suicide zyra. She'd just snowball into us, spam everything, die. We were all like, "Wtf is she even doing."

Then we got to post game and saw her with the most damage by a significant margin. That was a big "oh." moment.

On the health relics, its super obvious when they troll with those. I understand just kinda walking absentmindedly across them when they are down, and one pops up as you walk over it or miscommunications on who should take it, ive done that a bunch, but the people who just stand on them and do nothing else really ruin the match. I understand stealing the relics to troll a friend, but dont do it to random strangers lol.

This can be applied to Summoner's Rift. Where have you been all these years?

There was this one ARAM game I played a while back. I was going for a health relic because I was low on health. Our full health, full mana Malphite ult'd to steal the health. Couldn't stay mad at his "you will lose," dance though. Malp has a 10/10 taunt.

The definition of "fun" in this community has always amazed me as a scientist and horribly scarred me as a human being.

kaltenashes10/19/2015, 2:23:56 PM1 votes

i tilted once when my allied lux (with full health and a lot of mana) got the 2 health relics all the time (she even flashed to get ahead of me) that i needed, she typed <3 to me...when i couldnt take it anymore, i suicided and opened my shoe store

Nightseraph10/19/2015, 5:12:25 PM1 votes

People always look weird at me when I take chalice on melee champions with only one ranged ability. Olaf axe on CD, Nasus E spam, etc. Don't ever upgrade the thing.

Meanie4010/19/2015, 10:06:15 PM1 votes

You also can't get a champion you don't own (or is not on the free rotation).

Random my foot.

Like someone taking a glyph when there is a low HP/mana Soraka on the team...I mean, really? Okay, I give them the benefit of the doubt the first time and tell them how my heals are way more effective than the glyphs. I ofc judge that situation individually. Not everyone knows the glyphs spawn every 40 secs, and actually keeps track of that timer...

Intentional feeding is easily spotted - no point in bothering with telling them why that's a bad idea. Let them have their fun, don't say anything to them except perhaps trading jokes with the enemy team to make the most of it, and report the feeder afterwards. Flaming at such people just gives them what they want: attention.

Also, it may be just me, but I got a big thing with surrendering in ARAM. I am very much inclined to report a person for negative attitude if he plays a tank, goes 0/13/7, even if not on purpose and basically just gives up and starts spamming surrender votes. He may not be having fun, and I can easily understand his frustration (we've all been in that situation at some point in that mode), but he made a commitment when queing up, and he stands responsible for doing his part on the team until the end screen.

As you said, AD Morgana is perfectly acceptable if they know what they're doing - if they don't, and just do it out of spite, aka "it's only ARAM", they should be reminded of the rules: put the team before yourself: "Enjoy Yourself, but not at Anyone Else's Expense". Anyone go "it's only ARAM", I report them, regardless of what their offense is.

I played my ARAM match #5000 not too long ago, and so I have seen my fair share of different attitudes there. As well as far too many people who just can't suck it up and play even if they get a..."a derp champion", I believe was the term. And so they just dodge instead. I prefer to go 2/15/5 with Evelynn instead of dodging if there is no other way. At least I get experience with her, both in playstyle and build, so as to perhaps not make the same mistakes again. After all, I did make the decision of unlocking her in the first place...

I like to think this mentality could be beneficial for a lot of ARAM'ers.
