low rank stigma
The ranking system in league is putrid. It's like the caste system all over again. Being Silver feels like being an Untouchable. Nobody will listen to a word I have to say, and everyone looks down on me. I've beaten Diamond players on my own, and I've called rotations and other shots for my ranked 5 team which regularly matches up against Diamonds and Plats. Yet even there, my own friends laugh in my face when I try to make a slightly strange call. They use my Silver status to shit on anything I want to say. Every time I open my mouth, I'm laughed at and dismissed.
And we lose. We lose because we don't have that mid tower I've been pinging nonstop for the past 10 minutes. We lose because that top laner refuses to budge from top until he has 400 CS. We lose because of a Baron that we could've given up. We lose because of so many things that I tell people either to do or not to do, and they respectively don't do or do it.
The MMR system and the ranking system is incredibly unfair. Using only "Team A won" and "Team B lost" to rank individuals on the ladder is an inherently flawed concept. Bad players who get carried are unduly rewarded, while good players who lose are unjustly punished. Why not have an MMR calibration similar to DoTA 2's? Why not have a system that takes into account individual stats such as KDA, gold per minute, CS per minute, etc. DoTA's system can even detect if you're playing a gold-starved support and will adjust accordingly.
At the very least, take KDA and gold per minute into consideration when calculating the amount of LP awarded or lost. Riot has shown that it can detect supports through its "Recent Playstyle" feature, and can adjust the LP gains or losses based on stats accordingly. I'm sick and tired of losing 20 LP because both side lanes are feeding, my jungler is power farming, and the enemy team has 4 people mid all game long.
