Leaver Buster is a bad system

Please, Riot, do NOT implement Leaver Buster, this system needs to be removed completely. Automated punishment is just a bad idea because will only punish the majourity of players that have toasters and wal-mart internet. Without players playing you don't get money. Without money League of Legends and Riot Games goes bankrupt. The people you want to get punished by leaver buster will never get punished by it; where as the innocent people will get punished - Leaver Buster is a flawed system, always has been, always will be.

LB has enough lenience that the vast majority of players never have an issue with it.

If you're leaving games often enough to get LB bans, you are leaving a lot of games. If you're leaving that many games due to technical issues, you need to sort those out if you want to play League in modes with matchmaking.

Well don't throw the baby out with the bathwater, it might need tweaking. I don't know the incidence of how many are getting hit by it or what their circumstances are. I do know that its way more important in a ranked game to not have disconnect problems. I also realize that if the server has problems or the ddosing or the patches are causing problems, then a lot of people if its set too strict could be punished and caught up in their final tally/min/max number of occurances.

I've had computer problems with dc's but never played ranked and really when it was happening did not want to even go into a normal game because I would be so far behind when I got back in. I've since gotten a new computer and a bit better <not a lot> internet connection but I've still had disconnects and its not always been because of my equipment.

I think if you get picked up by the system and there is something wrong with it, you need to provide feedback, it will soon show whether its accurate or not.

As someone who has to leave often because of my parents, here's what I see as a fix. LeaverBuster and/or players report leavers to the tribunal system, but the tribunal has to actually see that they left intentionally instead of, say, having to go do chores.

I completely agree that LeaverBuster is a bad system. Especially when you have a game client that crashes randomly and there are also server issues often. I personally was just in a game and had my loading screen freeze and not connect. Had no way of knowing it was frozen (with everyone at 100%) until about 5 min went by. I restarted to find the game at 7 min in....While disappointing I managed to come back and we actually won the game. After the game in the lobby all that hype is shot down by a message. I now have 5x pre queues ( that are 5 min) just to get in the real queue because I "left a game". I'd like to point out that I had more gold gain than 2 people on my team and went positive after starting behind. You have a good idea but lets be honest the system sucks right now and there are probably more people getting banned that were actually there than not. I willing to bet 9/10 that guy that actually does leave the game isn't going to requeue 6 min after the game he left is over, so you really aren't even "punishing" the leavers at all. Case in point your system isn't affecting the people it should and needs to be fixed especially since your client disconnects and has server issues randomly.

I agree that people should be punished for afk/leaving games, but the amount of time you have to wait is bull

after only about 6 games left within anytime, you have to wait 20 minutes for the next five games... tell me that isn't stupid

5 mins, OK 10 mins... fine , OK 20 mins................... (deletes league of legends)

Do not forget it loves to target people who's games crash and can't reconnect or who happen to have inconsistent internet which is not just whatsoever and don't understand why they would use this system if it does not function properly and is exploitable.

Hey, I can understand the system as a whole, it works. The problem is, if you're in a low que and wait the 20 mins but dont join the first game it finds in the like 10 seconds it gives you, you have to wait 20 minutes Again. Im not gonna just sit and watch the timer waiting to play. Let me do my time and then join a game normally. It shouldnt stack another 20 minute wait on me just bc I didnt get my cursor to the join button in time.

I'm gonna be the first to admit that I've left 1 or 2 games, out of rage or from the fact that the real world had need of me. Yet when my client crashes 2 times when I try to join a game and league bugsplats 3 times(not in a row), even after I was told the "problem was fixed" and I'm forced to wait for 20 minutes to get in 1 game, you'd be pissed like me. I've almost given up at Riot, as they need to FIX THE LEAVERBUSTER SYSTEM! I understand that people could abuse it, but if the game crashes and I RECONNECT, then don't punish me for it. I'm sorry, I don't intentionally close out of league to troll like you think Riot. As a matter of fact, that shows how little confidence you have in your community. Forgive me if I sound angry, but I am. I'm not trying to "ruin games", at least not like the other players I play with. How does the TwistedFate mid I play with dc for 10 minutes, comes back and trolls still play with normal queue times(I played another game with him right after - when I had no 20 minute queue) and he does it again, and I get to wait for 20 Fucking minutes because I "disconnected and ruined the game". Not only that, but those are the same people who are lowering players elo - I went from Plat V to Bronze V on my main account, WHY? Because people like them ruin it. I'm not saying remove the leaverbuster system - quite the contrary. I'm saying to perfect it, because you haven't done that with much else so far. If you get a good team on it, they could solve a lot of problems with it - and god knows you've got the money for it.

Another problem I would like to address is people rejoining. I'm sorry, but if my computer crashes in the middle of the ranked game, I doubt many of us go "Oh well, too bad so sad" when they dc. Again, this shows Riot's lack of confidence in us. I'm going to do everything in my ability to reconnect as fast as possible, and if the patcher starts updating, and if I've got a login queue, then that's RIOT's fault, not mine. Most games that I reconnect, I get to the level that my team is at fast and I do my best not to feed. I understand the "burden" of the team when a player dc's. I feel like if said player reconnects they shouldn't get punished. People are saying that if you reconnect within 6 minutes you escape the "ban". That is bullshit. I've reconnected in less than 4 minutes and gotten bans on the 2 times that happens. I'm keeping track Riot. I don't want you to pop up and claim that I'm not. When league crashes the timer comes out and every time I get "leaverbuster has put you in low matchmaking queue." Get your shit together.

This brings my final point(thank you to anyone who is still reading - I know that this may sound crazy) is Riot's lack of confidence, and I've mentioned it before. I am writing this after the banning of tyler1 and TheRainMan, and I understand where they are coming from with their bans. I don't agree with TheRainMan's ban, but I see why: Riot is trying to remove toxic players. They're trying to weed out the players that ruin the game or make sport of it, profiting from their negative attitudes and personalities. Yet banning innocent players who've done EVERYTHING in their ability to reconnect and stay positive - that's crossing the line. In my eyes, you, Riot games, are the toxic ones right now. The Rioters are grand and all, don't get me wrong. They're honestly nice people. Riot Games, as a company, has fallen off - and become a monster in the eyes of many. 10$ says they won't even read this, or take note of it. 10$ says they have ignored this and many other forums like it. Where is the communication, and where is the community support? I don't want to see Riot's downfall, but they have to look at the community not as a toxic tumor that needs to be removed, but for the good players that shine out among the many - because there's more good people than bad. I may not be nice and dandy all the time, but I do my best to stay positive and to help others. Call me toxic or call me nice, I do what I can, and I know there's more out there. I don't just want to remove my leaverbuster, but I want to help others who this will happen to.

So listen Riot - listen to your community and fanbase. Don't ignore it like you have in the past. There could be counter arguements to be made about afks and people who abuse it but please just look at what is happening.

Terribly sorry to anyone who just happened to stumble on my rant, I've got almost nowhere else to post this and I need to get it off me. At the end of the day, we're all human and it feels bad when you're ignored and thrown around

I have to admit, This system is lame. 5 minutes wait before the long match search is really lame. They need to find a way to implement a system that doesn't give me the leaverbuster as a new player. I first played a few games and it was really difficult for me to stay in the game. My little toaster of a computer and internet is so unpredictable. Got banned from a match after i played the majority of the matches. How frustrating as a new player to have to wait 10+ minutes to do a simple match that takes a half hour. I first started to play with a friend a few days back and bought a character and skin and was like game on. Now a day after playing just 8 matches and i have already received the leaver buster. Completed all games except i would get disconnected a few times and return. Not to mention 10 minutes to wait for a match i get bored and do other things. and with the match timer not even being a good estimate i find myself always having to restart the damn timer. Not to mention ive been playing most of the day to try and remove it and just because of the long wait i have not been able to manage to get rid of this. If it continues much longer for me i will not even continue because its so frustrating im not even leaving the game its the long wait times!

I have to agree that leaverbuster is a bad idea. Most people don't leave on purpose and just get dissed on by a bad internet connection. I just had that problem with my usually stable internet failing. Also although it might be necessary for players who actually leave, having to sign that 'I Agree' thing was pretty tilting.

Half of the time it's people dodging and then me not seeing the new queue pop and then I get to wait another 20:00mins...

Average time in queue is about 60mins for me.

Leaver Buster is a good system, it doesn't matter if you leave intentionally or if it is out of your control, when you leave your team is pretty much screwed. It takes a high % of games to actually get your account suspended, if your internet or your computer is bad enough that you dc 1 game out of 5 you shouldn't be playing LoL, constantly dcing means your ruin the games for a lot players.

It isn't like it bans you at your first games where you DC, if you're worried to be banned because your computer makes you go AFK 10 matches in a row, well...You're burdening other people's games with your problem.

I never leave a game on purpose but if my connection fails or the game crashes on loadings screen and i can't reconnect until I restart my computer i can't do anything about it. Even if my teamates don't mind and don't report me or if we even win leaverbuster always ban/let you wait to join the queue for several games. I think this system is stupid. Why would there be an afk report option if leaverbuster does it automaticly. Even if no one reports you and doesn't mind you were afk you are still fcked. So why not remove the afk report?
