If someone has been verbally abused during the game, and even worse, if you have seen it yourself and still your response to that person is "get over it", you are getting your ass reported too. You don't know what the circumstances of that person are. You don't know how they are mentally or emotionally. You don't know what kind of things they had to go through in life. NO ONE should have to "get over" harassment just because YOU are not affected by it. And if you agree with online harassment and support it this way, you are part of the problem too and so you are reported just as the abuser. Period.

When will this "mute" nonsense end? Muting is a patch. It is a temporary solution to avoid further damage from someone who already caused it. It has its use, yes, but that's about it. Muting is not a punishment nor the only action someone who has been abused should take. You know what else is there for a reason? The report option. You know what else is there for a reason? The "report verbal abuse" option. You say reporting someone who supported an abuser is a waste of a report? You know what else is there for a reason? The "report negative attitude" option.

What's the other option? To take it to heart? To dwell on it? Report and move on. Honestly I don't get people who are so sensitive to stuff people say to them when they don't even know the other person. I get told shitty things from strangers face to face in real life and honestly it doesn't bother me at all. Now if my good friends or family have something to say that's unpleasant then yeah I take it seriously and listen to what they say, But if I get cut off and flipped off cause someone I don't know is having a bad day I don't sit around and wonder if my driving is okay all day and get depressed about it.

Congratz. Not everyone is as secure and stable as you are. Now yeah, it's not a good thing, but everyone's mental state changes in different circumstances. After a 10 game loss streak (brought on by some shitty stuff happening irl), if someone had told me to "get wrecked, just uninstall noob" i just might have done it.

I agree, I think people who really are that sensitive that a person over the internet should just mute their in-game chat. If people can't handle being called a worthless, untalented, waste of life, then they should just mute their chat. There's MUCH worse that people WILL say to you in-game and there's not much you can do about it besides ignore it, report the person, and move on.

You can't compare how you would react when you are by yourself vs. how someone reacts when in a team setting. Your team consists of players who are supposed to work with you and cooperate.

Imagine a family holiday gathering, you all are at a relative's house. You get some water from the kitchen and spill some on the floor, and your bitch of an aunt starts calling you mentally retarded for spilling water, and that you're ruining the host's house, etc. AND NO ONE FROM YOUR FAMILY SPEAKS UP TO TELL HER TO SHUT UP OR TELL YOU THAT IT'S OKAY. That's troubling. Sure, you CAN get over it, easily. But when you are with people who are supposed to support each other, including you, and they don't, it really makes you wonder who's got your back or not.

Your teammates should have your back, and vice versa.

you should have your own back. if youre really sensitive and you just cant let things go, dont play with all chat on or mute them. tab, click. bang, done. it takes less than a second. this is a non-issue. there are in-game options to deal with this. if you choose not to utilize those options, thats on you.

Your statement is insanely vague in detail. If someone got called bad in the game or told to uninstall then yes, they need to get over it. If someone (Take dunkey for ex) tells someone to kill themselves and what not then yea, you should be reported and have something done.

If you are willingly getting onto the most popular PC game played in the WORLD with COMPLETE STRANGERS knowing it's one of the MOST CANCEROUS communities in the game..and you're still getting butthurt sensitive over being told bad..then yea, you probably are bad and need to stop playing. First off it's only a game. Nothing should bother you about what is being said, unless your dream was to become an lcs player since you were a baby then no, being called bad isn't going to hurt you.

On a arguable note if you are going through stuff irl and decide "I need a peaceful escape..TIME FOR LEAGUE" then you're stupid. EVERYONE past level 20 knows what type of community this game has, it's your choice to play or not. Bitching needs to gtfo

If someone told me i'm bad at this game I would mute them then report them for verbal abuse it's as simple as that If someone told me to kill myself because I didn't do well in a video game I would probably report that and see that this guy is alright in the head.

This is a gross exaggeration. You are comparing physical assault to voluntary mental assault. You have the option of muting, you have the option of thinking beyond what every single person on the planet thinks of you, and you have the option to acknowledge anything outside of pings (which realistically is all you ever really need unless you enjoy in game conversation). If you are stabbed, there is most likely nothing you can do about it.

When a professor tells you that you will amount to nothing and are lucky to pass. Or a Sponsor at Alcoholics Anonymous tells you that you're a digusting human being every time you drink, which is only a step up from the trash you are for thinking about drinking. Or even a friend saying that they keep you around because you're the ugly friend, THOSE are things you are expected to get over and grow from. What someone in a video game says to you should mean less than the scum on your shoes mean to your outfit. Nothing.

If a person is playing poorly, no matter the skill level, just assume it will happen. This is an issue of being pampered by kindness and knowing that the world is full of ugly and growing from it. You are not helping someone by telling others to be kind to them, because there will be a time in their life when you are not around, and they will not have experienced the emotions to adequately handle it.

You don't need to be psychic to know that if you have died at all, or missed CS at all, that someone is bound to get mad. After one iteration of correspondence, ANY person can tell the inclination that a toxic person is leaning towards. This game is about assumptions. Assume that every player gets pissed at non-perfection.

And locking yourself in a house is a self afflicted choice. Same as not muting.

Regardless of how much you would like to believe that, every single player has the potential to rage and it could happen in any game. If someone who is being abused is too stubborn to hit the mute button, then the fact that they are still dealing with it becomes their fault, not the fact that it is happening at all. Abuse is always the fault of the abuser and is most definitely reportable, and by all means anyone abused should report the culprit, but while in game, the best solution is to hit the mute button which I can't seem to find or understand your problem with. Just stop being stubborn and hit mute and play the game in peace.

You can't equate league of legends to domestic abuse. Someone typing mean words on a screen does not even begin to compare to the abuse of a woman. My mother was abused and I can tell you that my being abused by ragers in league doesn't come close to the pain I saw on her face that day. You're a disrespectful prick for even having the audacity to make that comparison. Furthermore, you're simply wrong. If one's qualm is with being abused, then their refusal to not use an EASY AND SIMPLE solution that is the mute button to end the abuser's ability to even address them with anything but troll pings is rooted only in blind and foolinsh stubbornness. muting after the fact when you have already been abused is what you are suggesting and most other people suggest muting before anything happens where then you cant communicate well with your team on the rare occation people actually have plans and dont just mindlessly go through the motions farm in lane go mid push mid for rest of game i cant tell you how stupid this is rather than tailoring response to individual games but most of the players i play with dont seem to be able to use their brain enough to do anything else

If you examine the way most psychological conditions and illnesses are treated in America by the average American, you'll notice a lot of similarities in how these kinds of League players treat individuals being verbally abused. I'm glad most of the time that people rebuke the flamer and not the victim; I can't even remember the last time I saw a victim being blamed for someone being a total scumbag.
