I usually only play ranked when I'm feeling super alert. No late night ranked plays, none on days I don't sleep well.
And usually only a few at a time, though at times I play more and quit when I feel that I could have possibly carried a game, but failed to do so. (got too focused on 1 objective, lost track of another, over-committed to a fight I should have known we weren't going to win, got overloaded with trying to keep team together and lost my map awareness, etc)
Though I try to not let losses bother me if I feel I did fairly well despite ending with a loss.
EG: had a 7/4/3 Gnar top game we lost pretty hard. But the team total was 27/10, meaning 27-4 deaths =23 deaths were not mine, 7kills+3assists=10, I took part in literally every kill my team got, while being something around 1/7th of our team's deaths, very unlike I could have managed a win out of that.
But then I had a 6/10/10 vlad game, started off doing poorly, picked myself up by midgame/got a shutdown on my top..but then failed to be able to do much with it cause I was over-focused on my top and wasn't paying enough attention to other lanes and wasn't able to judge quick enough if I could handle other enemies, so I either didn't fight a couple of times when I should have, or did a couple times when I shouldn't have, and everything fizzled on me. That one I feel like I may have been able to pull a win out of if I was better focused/keeping track of who was killing who/which lane was winning and which lane was losing, so that one would be the game I'd stop on and try again another time.
(both of those were normals, but just good examples of 2 losses but different ending feelings on them)
Honestly only played 3 ranked this season (all 3 wins so far, wooo!)
But that's my general approach to it.
Goal is low gold this year. Last year I was silver 4, but was starting to climb when season ended.
I like to get my promos all out in 1 stretch if I can, bothers me leaving stuff halfway there. Though I'll still usually follow the 'Could I have carried that one but didn't?' rule and save the other 2-3 games when I feel better able to pull it off.
