Looking for advice from high elo players

So, I have climbed to Silver 2 from Bronze this season, and I am trying to figure out some small things to push me further in Silver and hopefully into Gold. I main jungle, but I can play every role pretty well, so I have a mixture of questions.

  1. When I am controlling lane and winning in farm but I cannot kill the laner because of whatever reason, should I force kills? Roam? Just farm? (In the context of top lane)

  2. When my team is ahead when I am jungling and we already got first drag, should I continue to gank or farm my jungle? I think sometimes waves aren't there and even with vision, I don't feel comfortable split pushing.

  3. When my team is behind, where do I focus my attention? Forcing ganks/team fights usually don't end well and just put us further behind. How can I get better at playing from behind?

  4. I CS decently well in all roles, so I can usually stay up to par, but I cannot harass as well as I would like to in lane. I play Jayce top, and most consider him a lane bully, but I sometimes don't feel like it. I rarely die more than 2 times in lane, and if I do it's because I am getting camped. How can I get better at harassing my lane opponent?

Here are my main champions for each role. Are there any suggestions on who to pick up to get better at specific roles?

Top: Jayce Olaf Jungle: RekSai Gragas Ekko Mid: Kassadin Orianna Jayce ADC: Lucian Support: Nautilus Thresh

  1. If for some reason you cannot kill the enemy laner but are winning in cs advantage press that advantage as long as you can do it safely, push hard into his tower, roam and take jungle camps or secure a kill in another lane, then come back and repeat. Always ward along your paths in and out or you will get picked in the process. Doing this will usually deny the enemy laner farm due to tower killing minions while simultaneously increasing your income lead by taking jg camps and securing kills in other areas. Eventually when you come back with the right item powers spike you should be able to kill the laner easily and take towers.

  2. If you team is ahead and you have secured the first drake press the advantage. The goal of the game is not to get farmed up, or have a lot of kills. The goal is to get into the enemy base and destroy the nexus. When you have the advantage as a team coordinate your guys and start taking turrets and applying more pressure, controlling the buff areas and epic monster camps, and keep the laners you started snowballing snowballing and crack the enemy base.

  3. When your team is behind you need to catch up. The best way is to earn income that cannot be easily contested. Take a free tower if the enemy isn't paying attention. If this isn't possible figure out which carry you can work with to get back into the game, as a jungler your role is to get your carries to carry harder, in general bot lane is the place to be, pitch a tent, secure a double or triple kill, take the tower or a drake.

  4. Learn to watch the rhythm of your opposing laner, laning is a dance, if you watch for the moments they want to hit cs themselves it opens up opportunities for you to harass them when they move in to secure that cs. Particularly as jayce, your early all in potential at 3 is very strong. Don't be afraid to full combo them and end by knocking them away or perhaps even under your own turret. This type of trade will often discourage opponents from interacting with you again until they are stronger which will allow you to zone them off cs and increase your income advantage.

Advice from a plat is not good enough ?

Edit : Just asking questions to see what are some key issues that you may need help in.

If you can't kill them making them lose out on as much cs and exp as possible is a good strategy by freezing the lane as much as possible. Roaming is really only worth it if it gives your team a kill or objective so good judgement is key. As far as what to do when you have drag and your teams winning, its more about taking the right opportunities and watching how things are playing out on the map. Farming when you know a gank wont be successful isn't a bad idea either. Sometimes you have to leave your laners to their own devices and get the levels you need for an effective gank. Part of being good at harass is not forcing it, or timing when your gonna harass by waiting for them to go for a cs.

Ill give you my 2 cents. Also as a main jungler but sorry i am not high elo. Platinum 2 is not high....but still i hope i can help you. First, you are asking about some way too mandatory and basic stuff, witch means that you really dont get the game at all...yet. Keep in mind i am being respectful here just trying to help. So what you can do is.

1 Watch streams of high ranked players on the internet. (Lcs will confuse you at this point rather than help, keep that later.) 2 Google specific parts of the game that you want to get better (how to stutter step ,gank, froze wave, split push, decision making especially since you jungling ect.) and again see videos from very skilled players. (Like redmercy on youtube for example.) 3 Dont even talk to other ppl at ranked on chat, at your elo they also don't know whats going on, and they will not take advise from u or anyone cause its the garbage attitude player. 4 Analise hard and deep only YOUR mistakes. 5 Dont rage, usually, like 9/10 that rage are just garbage players, with the worst being that 1/10 witch might be diamond but you get the pouint.

I started lol august 2014 at season 4. Got the 10 promo games got silver 4. Playd and dropped to Bronze 5. Then before 1 year pass i got to plat 2 at season 5 witch is now. I was really frustrated and making post like this or even complain about other players behavior, the troll, the afk ,ect. When i realize this is just an excuse (even if it was true witch it was) for my inability to get higher rank i change my attitude and was focusing on making less and less mistakes myself. Then i literally poped to plat 2. There is no excuse to ones elo, if the others are bad and you are not, even like this eventually you will keep getting higher. There is no excuse.

Hope i helped, cheers.

p.s. Silver or bronze players aren't garbage, the ones that think they know everything for the game and flame and verbal abuse are. So take it easy, enjoy the game, and eventually you will get better. Hope i helped, cheers.

Obviously experience is a great factor in decision making. My first tip would be try every champion because even if you know their abilities if you dont know the potential from experience its harder to play against them and understand what to do in game to beat them. But it pretty much comes down to is it worth it. Do you really need to go so deep for the kill, or could you get in deep with melee and finish with ranged. Heres my tip for generally improving, be aware of every enemies cooldowns, this goes along with playing everyone, once you have a good grasp on them you will notice more opportunities. and know better when to go for the big or risky plays. Further into that click on enemies and look at their stats, it can give you some incite on how to build and play against them. The last thing im going to put in this is kind of obvious but you have to consider what I just said and weigh it into the items people have and their levels. When you start thinking this way you will notice improvements in your allies even because you will open up plays.

One issue i have seen plenty of times are item builds. Do you use the same builds or you change it depending on your situation ?

I mostly just play tanks for climbing xD I play cho as a tank regardless of where I use him and build cdr on him so he's a cc machine. Makes climbing easy. I noticed very few of the champs you're using have a low skill floor. If you're stuck in an elo pick up one champ to main. (I did this with Naut) I learned braum last season so he's not really hard to play. I don't enjoy playing thresh. I stopped using jayce. Learn other champs as you go. Naut --> zac --> tahm--> Cho --> Varus(after failing to pick up vayne) -> to be continue I've played each champ for somewhere around 50 games before moving on to the next (minus cho, he's easy as hell to learn)

Edit: A lot of my cho games I just ended up pushing and applying pressure so the enemy jungler would camp me. You get just as fed farming. As long as you don't ignore your teams need you'll be fine. I would roam for dragon fights and such but it's pretty low maint when you're taking all of the enemy jungler's attention because you're pushing mid or top super hard. I've had enemies blow 3 ults while I was pushing top and my team was taking objectives. Yeah it's not optimal to die but sometimes it can't be avoided, I saw them coming. When panth ults behind you, you're gonna have a bad time. It's nice to not give shutdown gold when most of your gold has come from mob kills though. :3 (use this strategy with caution because it can back fiora hard ;] ) So When you're ahead and your team is going even

  1. Apply lane pressure
  2. Try not to die while doing this If you're ahead but your team is behind
  3. Steps 1 and 2
  4. Attempt to assists lanes if your jungler can't get around to it (so roam) If your entire team is behind.
  5. Watch your enemy make a mistake (in cho's case if they dive toss a w,q)
  6. If they're early game champs wait the game out so you can outscale them.

Don't tilt if you die once, yeah you're gonna be behind but going on tilt helps no one.
