Gamers are far more toxic than most other people

Why are gamers so toxic? I've been involved in tons of different athletics and competitive music activities throughout the years and everyone is respectful and supportive of each other with occasional exceptions. Everyone else respects the work and effort they put into things.

But League especially seems the opposite. It's almost guaranteed that players will be toxic with an occasional decent player.

I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything but why is this difference present?

Any and all sports have a bar of competitiveness, being behind a monitor and dealing with complete strangers does not help lessen the alpha dog mentality. Or that fact I have a VERY limited patience for bullshit.

I think the anonymity doesn't help. It's hard to care about peoples' feelings when you don't see them or to acknowledge that they have strengths along with their weaknesses.

If you think League toxicity is bad, try some fighting games.

its because in most any other game if you are having a bad time you can leave. in LoL you are trapped. if you leave you will get punished/banned. so you are stuck in that bad experience for sometimes 40+ minutes.

i can think of no better way to make someone toxic.
