Don;t pretend to be support, if you really want to be a mage, tell the adc they aren't getting a support and just go a mage, don't pretend you're gonna support, then "accidently" steal kills, just go a fucking mage, and tell your adc to fuck off, it's honestly a lot better, and you'll both probably do a lot better, just don't act like you're support. You're not fooling anyone with your "oops, sorry"'s. just go a fucking mage, for the most part people don't care, so stop pretending, please.

mage supports are kill or poke lane supports. They're still supports even if they get kills. Fun fact, "stealing" a kill that would otherwise be a solo kill is beneficial for your team, because you get more gold from it.

Yes exactly, but don't go like lux, then take all the kills when you don't need to take them, or brand, or zyra, or any of those types of champs.

So is it okay if I KS with Janna or Soraka? Because you only seem to be complaining about bot lane mages taking kills. Taking the kill as a Lux support is probably better than your ADC getting the kill, because they have the gold from farming, and your items aren't cheap. I'm not saying you should go out of your way to KS on Lux, but if you take it accidentally it's no big deal.

Mage supports rely on items with high costs. Eg: item 3089 item 3285 item 3165 "Support" supports rely on cheaper items like item 3190 item 3107

I'm talking about when a champ is about to die, and they run in and throw an ability that they had no reason to throw and pretend it was an accident, I've even seen people flash KS and pretend it was an accident, and I'm fine with accidental KS' just dont go support steal all kills and generally try and "Carry'(quotations since kda has nothing to do with carrying), actually support your adc, get them fed, if you don't wanna do that, say it outright, what I'm mad about is that they say they'll support, then don't if they go someone like brand or lux and say they'll supp, and do supp, they're fine, but wehn they say they'll supp then go anyone and don't actually supp, that's what pisses me off, esp when Lux' do it, cause I'm a lux main and I get yelled at just for playing her because of people like this...

Maybe it's different on NA, but on OCE I rarely get complaints about picking Lux support. I've played over 100 games this season as Lux support, and only once has someone asked me to pick a different champion.

My advice is to ignore them and prove to them that you aren't one of the assholes.

I'm a Zyra Main. I can tell you that she absolutely doesn't need any AP items to rip your ass in lane.

My Normal Build Path: item 3303 item 2009 item 2049 item 1001 item 3098 item 2301 item 3158 item 3165 item 3116 item 3151

Even with that build path, I never have any problems giving my opponents reason to respect Zyra's range. Her power allows me to almost freely ward and contest vision control over the dragon pit and the enemy jungle, do all of the usual Support stuff like keeping tabs on the enemies, and still do enough damage to be relevant at all stages of the game.

It's all about how you use the power.

That's because Zyra has high base damage and her plants to do it for her. Same reason Heimerdinger can rush item 3512 and still rip everybody a new asshole.

It does work out if you use it properly. But the reason Zyra is a decent support is the same reason she's not very good in Mid. She lacks finishing power. Once she "shoots her wad", her cooldowns prevent her from finishing targets. In the Bot Lane, that's a good thing, because you want your ADC to clean it up for you. In the Mid Lane, it gets you killed.

Brand and Zyra are two of the top supports right now though. They bring the utility of a support with the teamfighting of an APC. Lux support is less so, but still decent.

As someone who has gone Karthus sup(initially because someone was that special snowflake that doesn't call a lane and ignores summoner code) and then made a thing out of it, I can say that some mage supports are great and fun. Though unfortunately you are primarily going to be a poker, but in my opinion, so as long as your adc/apc gets fed and you win lane(and you dont steel kills) you've done your job. Not every sup is going to be a Soraka with a global heal. Come to think of it, Karthus sup is like the Anti-Soraka, instead of a global heal it's a global assist.
