Don;t pretend to be support, if you really want to be a mage, tell the adc they aren't getting a support and just go a mage, don't pretend you're gonna support, then "accidently" steal kills, just go a fucking mage, and tell your adc to fuck off, it's honestly a lot better, and you'll both probably do a lot better, just don't act like you're support. You're not fooling anyone with your "oops, sorry"'s. just go a fucking mage, for the most part people don't care, so stop pretending, please.

mage supports are kill or poke lane supports. They're still supports even if they get kills. Fun fact, "stealing" a kill that would otherwise be a solo kill is beneficial for your team, because you get more gold from it.

As someone who has gone Karthus sup(initially because someone was that special snowflake that doesn't call a lane and ignores summoner code) and then made a thing out of it, I can say that some mage supports are great and fun. Though unfortunately you are primarily going to be a poker, but in my opinion, so as long as your adc/apc gets fed and you win lane(and you dont steel kills) you've done your job. Not every sup is going to be a Soraka with a global heal. Come to think of it, Karthus sup is like the Anti-Soraka, instead of a global heal it's a global assist.
