Bronze to Gold: My story to learn from

Hello,

I've been bronze rank for the longest time since I started playing league. I didn't mind much, I was having fun with friends and didn't care for being competitive. I mean, I tried once when I hit 30, but that stamped me into bronze... Oops! But it became a learning experience.

It wasn't until last season when I really wanted to push for a better rank, mostly to show myself that I have gotten better than when I started. Last season was crazy, as I met someone like me wanting to push for the better during a convention. We traded summoner names and went to duo queue. It was Alister and Darius bot lane, oh what unconventional fun! Surprisingly, I managed to break into silver with my new friend along with some solo jungle fever. We later parted ways due to some fights.

Now, throughout my time on the rift, my friends have always pushed me out of roles. I used to be a mid laner, but one friend got tired of bot lane, so he said " why not jungle? I will go mid ". Well, I did, and I happily enjoyed it. This was the first role I was truly enjoying!! But later, my friends said I sucked and I was told to support.

Even in that role, I disappointed them. But we stuck to it until one of my friends died of cancer. It was a tragedy.

After grieving, I later took over his role as adc to keep his spirit in league. Nobody objected, but I was still told I sucked by a new friend, who had slowly been taking over that role as well.

This season was a season of change. I met another guy at an anime convention that said he would coach me and see how I was doing. I accepted the offer and decided it was time to go back to my favorite time with my favorite champion, jungle nocturne.

People bashed me for picking him in ranked, saying he sucked and I sucked, but that was the last straw. I took the advice of my coach and put it in play with him watching, not saying a word, and began to climb.

I only used my favorite champion, nocturne, when I could. Sometimes I swapped out for some counters or role fillers, but I tried to stick to my nocturne.

Every death I had, I tried to find a way to blame myself and learn from that mistake. I tried building what both fit the situation and synergized with my champion. All of this thought and determination finally paid off, I hit gold rank!!!

And while my friends still think I suck, and that getting to gold was luck, I just sit quietly and enjoy myself, taking only positive criticism and using it. Now, I only try half my hardest, waiting for the season to end while playing with my friends in any role that they need me in. After all, I met my goal to show I have gotten better, right?

The moral of this is to ignore what others think. You do you. Play who and what you enjoy and strive to get better. Don't be like my friends and others who blame everything but themselves for each mistake that happens. Listen to advice and take it to heart, and don't be afraid to learn from others as well as yourself.

Honestly, if you master a champion, you can carry to Plat. Back to back seasons going from Bronze to Gold and now Bronze to Plat.
