Aatrox is a Darkin. Rahst is a Darkin, they both have a similar appearence which I get because they are both Darkin, while Varus is only corrupted...but then why is Varus purple? Both Aatrox and Rahst share a color scheme, which is seen even before Rahst takes over Kayn...
It would make Varus looke a lot cooler imo
Because his model and design is old and outdated. He wouldn't be out of the question for a VGU.
He's not that far off, though. Purple skin could just be a side effect of the corruption, and this Darkin could be a different, darker variant.

He isn't Darkin yet, he's being possesed by it, but until he achieves his vengaence, he will not succumb. So in terms of gameplay; never.
If Varus had a Darkin that would be his Bow which name could be (unless retcons happen) Pallas.
Varus would be a lot more corrupted than Kayn but he might be able to keep that status balanced with his thirst of vengeance being strong enough to suppress the conscious of the Bow/Darkin.
A Darkin can be contained or defeated in their weapon form, Kayn proves it. Maybe Varus already defeated his darkin bow and wields it without problem. But his corruption was caused by Pallas pit.
