Why do people think Katarina counters Vel'koz?
All you do is give her respect in lane. Wave clear with your W and stay out of her range. If she wastes Shunpo you have a free 100-0 opportunity. Vel'koz and his range greatly outclass her.

Yer they don't realise that women can never win against the likes of Vel'koz.
Now before you count me among the sexists, I learn this from The Videos and The Books!!
People say some weird stuff in terms of counters, I've heard people recommend Sona mid vs both Katerina and Zed, both are terrible ideas.
has very few champions that she actually beats in lane. can beat a 
that wastes his knock up and generally speaking his harass is easy to avoid with shun po. This match up is not that bad for Kat, she can farm fairly well and even get a kill if velkoz is to aggressive or shoves lane to often. I will take this mid lane match up any day of the week compared to many of the other evils that lurk in the mid lane.

Its mostly a skill matchup from what i've seen. It can go either way.
If blows his E for a harass combo, Katarina gets a free all in and can easily 100-0 Vel'koz.
