So what exactly makes Koreans so much better at the game?

ArnoldSchwarzens··1 votes·1,179 views

Has it something to do with their culture, is it their mindset or are they just literal machines designed to destroy our hopes and dreams at Worlds every year?

There has to be a reason why they always win worlds and why they are so much better than us, maybe we westerners can even learn from it.

There has only been 1 strategy in League for years. Koreans have better tactical skills as opposed to strategical skills.

And how do you get better tactical skills? Practice.

When you spend days after days playing 1 game non-stop, as well as having a bunch of money put behind your back, it's natural for people to be masterful at the game they play. Not to mention, they also practice games in groups, which is the core of the game, unlike many other nations whose pro players spend most of their time solo'ing.

It's got nothing to do with whatever innate differences or whatever that we always just jump to whenever there is a discussion about why someone else does something better or worse than another. It's merely varying degrees of commitment, approach and money put into it.

Korea wins because SKT wins. They're just a better team over everybody else due to their experience and knowledge exceeding the game.

Thats why SKT is always the one who wins, nobody else from LCK, its not "Korea" its "SKT" being the best players in the world and proving it time and time again.

??? every team in LCK is really good though. There's a reason so many NA teams went to korea for league boot camps to get better before worlds. Korean diamond and challenger players are just generally better than they are here.

Never said every team in LCK was bad, just SKT is better above all of them and thats why they're the ones on stage holding the cup and none of the other LCK teams.

The boot camping doesn't mean Korea's playerbase is the strongest. All the boot camping does is give other regions a look into metas they wouldn't be prepared for on stage since they're so drastically different, especially important for pick and banning phase knowing what Korea finds a threat.

I'd boil it down to two reasons.

  1. The Culture South Korean culture towards professional gaming is much more embracing than almost all western cultures. It's basically promoted and taken very seriously (So much so that laws were actually passed that make it illegal to cheat). Kids play more games and play them more seriously. When they mature, you get players like Faker.
  2. Internet Access and Speed Internet is a lot better in South Korea than in most Western countries. Better internet means better game experience which means better players.

They put far more money, time and effort into it; though to make it to worlds it also takes a bit of personal talent and opportunity.

It's as simple as that.

That's if you didn't actually watch the video you posted.

Besides that he finds that Koreans can't seem to late-game more or less at all, and that he found Koreans more toxic in general (but this one is a bit iffy because he just assumed the shittalking and spamming to be toxic even though he couldn't understand what they are saying by his own admission. Not to mention different insults are valued differently in different nation and culture in the first place), he pretty much said Koreans are just better on average.

According to him, he said that Koreans have better mechanics (going as far as to say that he was surprised by the level of competence the Silvers and Golds he was playing with during his climb), they play far more aggressively but their early games are "godlike" (and due to the fact they play far more aggressively, passive champs are more or less straight up pushed out of the game), they "listen to pings" which may be implying that they use and respond to pings better.

Etc.

Last but not least, that's just the solo experience. Organised play is a completely different matter.
