But why does she get to have an AD scaling shield? Just wondering since it seems most shields are AP.

Because she has no reason to build AP. Giving her a shield would make her initiation absolute trash. Also her ultimate wouldn't affect her shield, meaning it's whole thematic importance of the ultimate
Basically to force her to buy AD items to have any survivability and since AD items have 0 tanky stats, she relies on getting enough AD to survive long enough to kill someone. If it scaled off tanky stats like most other shields, she could fall back on tank items and it wouldn't hamstring her.
Basically forces her into a Snowball and carry or be pretty much irrelevant champion.
it's her only defense. she's a squishy melee. would you prefer she just get a ton of free stats like yasuo instead?
