I honestly find AP ekko just as fucking dumb as tank ekko.
He 100-0s you with like 2 abilities. his kit is just broken, overloaded, and unbalanced.

Ekko is a great example of how not to design a kit. Riot's test for new champ designers should honestly be to sit them down and have them point out all the mistakes that were made in his design.
When my friend asked me, why I don't play Ekko, I answered with, "You could make 5 new champions with his kit. I refuse to play this cancer." Then I listed everything he has and the response I got was simple, "You are right."
When he came out; me and several others had called it that he had too much stuff in his kit. Seriously he's like a magic version of leesin.
It's the hyper safe, assassins, people have NEVER liked. So I'm not really sure why they keep making them. :-/
As someone who likes to go full ap ekko, more than tank ekko, a few insights.
His early game is pretty weak, if he wants to win an early game trade, you're forced to proc your passive or else you've pretty much knocked away like half your own hp for a quarter of the enemies (Note I don't ever build ROA on ekko so I don't know that playstyle of ap ekko). He requires atleast 2 ap items to 100-0 a squishy without having to land an ult, which I normally have morello's and lich. If the opponent even has 1 MR item like Abyssal, specter cowl or negatron cloak is fine too, he will need to burn his ult and land it to kill you, or he'd have to wait on cooldowns assuming you have more dmg or tankiness than him, otherwise he can just rely on his w passive to kill you off.
As AP ekko, you require more decision making than tank ekko, cause tank ekko is just so brain dead, yep let's engage, keep using your skills, oh I'm low hp let's ult, I'm back to like half up, and let's continue my brain dead actions. Meanwhile AP ekko, you can't just engage freely.... err well you can as long as you proced your passive and didn't get cc'd while doing so since his assassin style is more like a hit and run style, like akali.... except akali doesn't run she just hides and waits on cooldowns.
But honestly, I don't understand why complain about ap ekko. I mean LB can to just as much with 2 abilities pretty much (Q + R), and basically all assassins kill you pretty fast as a squishy.
Ekko has one design flaw, and it's that you can rip his kit apart and use it to make three new champs.
Jesus how many times does Ekko need to get nerf for all you to leave him alone. "With two abilities he can 100-0 you" excuse me 
they will all love to say hello to you. Lets not forget

Your Big problem should be tank Ekko, which is understandable when I 1st got Ekko I used him as tank. After his nerfs though I go straight AP as an Assassin it's my job to 100-0 any ADC's just like any other assassin. "He has too much in his kit" His kit is just fine. Just like Ashe is a utility ADC, Ekko is a utility Assassin. His q is a skill shot unless he uses his e then q. His w is a skill shot that usually doesn't land all the time since the delay is stupid long. While his e is his gap closer.
Lablanc w is like his e where she uses it as a gap closer. While her e is like his w, although a bit more easier to land. She can 100-0 the carry with 2 abilities and press her w again to get out. Similar to Ekko 100-0 the carry then ulting out. Or Zed 100-0 the carry and leaving with his shadow (I don't know his qwe).
All this Ekko hate is so annoying it's funny
AP Kekko is perfectly fine. He has tradeoffs, unlike his tank counterpart. His laning is not particularly strong, so punish him there. With no beef, he'll die pretty quick and won't be able to ult a lot of the time if you have at least one good CC on him.
Yes ekko is annoying. Can you name many assassins that aren't. Their job is to assassinate you. A good team can instakill ap ekko and be smart enough to not stand in his ult. Be happy tank ekko isn't really good anymore Riot did what they needed for ekko without making ap ekko totally destroyed. He is fine.
P.S. When you see that shadow following you try not to stand in it unless you want your entire health bar gone.

While I may be biased, Ekko is not busted. TANK EKKO IS BUSTED. NOT AP. AP Ekko is fucking hard to set up, and you need to rely on enemy misplays.
Juke his Q, punish with an engage, he needs to land 2 cold AAs with no AS to be able to do any damage.
Ekko and Fizz. Similar champions, and most annoying to play against in game, at least for me. Riot should look at them and remember, how to NOT create new champions.
He is just very badly designed. The idea of a utility assassin is contradictory in the highest possible way in League.
The only way that they could seemingly make AP Ekko more appealing over Tankko is by making his ratios so ludicrously high that you'd be an idiot not to buy AP.
They should start by taking the stun off his W. Just make it a big AoE slow, that's already plenty powerful for an assassin.
I'm likely going to get chewed out for this.
Would you rather be dying to an Ekko building what he was intended to build, or would you rather he just build full tank and do it anyways? With full AP, you're much squishier and need to be able to set up. If you're getting picked off by him alone, then maybe being alone is the problem, since if you're with your team he can't just pop in unless he literally just wants to waste all of his ult potential or die doing it.
Assassins are MEANT to kill you quickly. That is literally their job. Looking at how a real life assassin is meant to be described, it's someone that needs to eliminate their target without their presence being known. That's why in game, the assassin can't just engage and expect to always win. He has to come in when people are distracted and use that fact to defeat his opponent before he's found out. If Ekko took 8 seconds to do that, he'd be a horrible assassin.
Wait, you're telling me an assassin can kill you fast if you build completely squishy so you can come whine on the forums and get other ekko hate circlejerkers to upvote you?
Ap ekko is pretty shit tbh, unless he is fed he can't kill you with eq passive, and without those he gets oneshotted.
