- Supports are designed to perform well on a low budget; the real support tanks do their job just fine, but not always in the same manner as a beefy top-lane tank would.

Meh usually I agree with what you say but I'm going to disagree. Where I'm at (plat/diamond level) I get shitted on no matter what. The OP is kind of a moron. As far as "boring." That depends. I think support is more fun than playing someone like Caitlyn or than a champ that is like Xin which take little skill to play.
The part I disagree with are the following. I get flamed when I'm doing well too. People who are plat and diamond don't give a flying damn if you've played flawlessly the entire game as long as you make ONE mistake in front of them; then all of a sudden you're some elo boosted trash who should get anally raped by ISIS/castrated (legit been told this). 90% of my games no one talks but we coordinate pretty well for the most part. But make one mistake or lag or DC and you're reported by the whole team and you're being called out by the whole team. It's at a point where I just simply stopped playing support in rank. I still enjoy playing support a lot. But if I'm going to pick support and about HALF the players I come across treat supports like shit when they NEVER play support, how is someone like me supposed to look at a player like that and cooperate? It isn't right to troll I agree but this is what I have resorted to doing. This is also another reason why I hate the fact everyone can pick what they want; people who never play support openly talk shit to support players. (FYI I've challenged some of these "great" players to pick support the next game and see how they do... most of them feed and suck and say "welp supporting harder than I thought).
But these are problems with PLAYERS, not support itself. When I get teammates that don't give me a migraine, they communicate well/talk and try to make me talk alot (I rarely talk in game; only time you see me talk in these games is when you tell me GJ and I say something so you don't feel ignored). Doesn't change the fact there is a sub-population of the community that thinks supports are shit. Some of my friends are like that and think I suck because I mained supp to get to plat. I told them "Yeah if you get carried but I maintained good win/loss ratio and whenever I play different roles I still do well." Meanwhile those guys talking shit are way far behind me. Myf riends' excuse is "You play often." LOL I don't know how often I get to play going into nursing school, just having funeral for grandmother, and working 2 part time jobs while this guy works one job and plays video games all day. So yeah, supports get treated like shit by many people. MOST understand we're not aholes. The people who understand and want me to support them all have played support before and understand the role. When they see me roam or make plays at a seemingly unfavorable time, they understand WHY I do it and to not overextend. Rather than a diamond or plat adc who still blind pushes when you ping to go ward since enemy jungler just left mid.
