Finished watching 'Avatar: The Last Air Bender' and starting to watch 'The Legends of Korra'...

[POTENTIAL SPOILER ALERT] ...and I feel so conflicted. It's like...they incorporated existing characters and their kids and stuff but they're all old and reminiscing about their Adventures and like most of team Avatar is dead...

It's just seems so sad that the characters that you've watched develop and learn to love are all old or dead.

They should have just stuck with the whole hundred year gap theme and not referenced the characters beyond seeing Aang in the avatar state or the spirit world. I'd engage with it a lot more if all the characters were new.

Mm. As a whole, I didn't particularly like the series and, like many, dropped it after season 2. My very favorite episode outside of the first season's pilot+finale was actually about Tenzin dealing with his desire to live up to his father and their family dynamics. It was the first time I actually managed to care about one of the characters and feel happy for his progress. At times, it felt like Tenzin is the only one they bothered to give a personality, and seeing the spirit world again through almost Aang's eyes was also enjoyable.

As stated by the above, season 2 of Korra was indeed the weakest of all the Seasons. However once you get past that, you really start to see a lot of character development out of Korra. Her journey post season 2 is more of becoming an adult rather then being the avatar. This really shows in many of the episodes. Trust me when i say. It really gets good.

Varrick was worth any problems with the series imo.
