Honestly I don't think any high elo player is even playing on their main account anymore duo to how trash ranked is apparently up there, and its getting fucking annoying. I don't stand a chance against a fucking diamond player.

Because afaik, there's no reason to smurf unless you are high masters, where queue times are getting ridiculously high
But that's just based on my experience watching streams playing in high diamond ELO where they only get 5 minutes queues

Do you really think a Silver, Gold, or even Plat is going to learn from the 20/2/5 LeBlanc who dumpstered your midlaner so hard they're not physically in the game anymore? Or the 6 item vayne at 25 min because of all the cs and kills they got?
It is not a 'learning experience' when you play against someone who is vastly beyond your skill level when they didn't ask for it. They went into Ranked most likely to climb, not learn. It is a learning experience when they ask the guy "hey can you teach me pls" and the arrange for it.

You have a front row seat to witness and experience what someone who is vastly more skilled than you does, and to adapt your play accordingly. Playing with/against better players is the best way to improve.
NineTailedMystic1 votesNo. You learn by playing opponents of similar skill level, or being taught by a higher player. Not a combination. If the higher player is doing shit that's way over your head for that skill level and doesn't explain it, what good does it do to try and learn it? You don't know why he did that. When someone on your skill level, it's likely something common you see in that skill level, and a thing you'll have to know to climb past that skill level. Knowing a Diamond trick probably isn't going to help you much in Silver or Gold.
But when you have a higher skill player over your shoulder or on comms coaching you, thats when you can learn from them because they can explain what they're trying to teach you.
Pika Fox1 votesYou dont need to know why someone is doing something for you to figure it out yourself, you need to know what they did and how to adapt it to your own playstyle. Working backwards from there is relatively simple if you actually try to learn.
Your statements stem from the fallacy that school environments are the only way to quickly and adequately learn. This is false, people are capable of self learning through mimicing and deducting why things happen and work from there.
Simple science really, you make your observation then work to understand why after.
Playing with or against similar skilled opponents will never be as good as playing with or against stronger ones, because people of your skill level make the same mistakes you do. You cant learn because there is nothing there to learn. You only have yourself to learn from and how to capitalize on their mistakes, eventually. Whereas someone of a higher skill already has that figured out, you just need to learn to emulate it and deduce why.
This is why you should always watch skilled players play the game instead of yourself if you want to get better.
