Why can't normal MMR mimic your ranked MMR

Because like I don't know about you but I don't like laning against diamond 3 players as a gold 4. just a thought.

Because they are different. Many Diamonds use normals to practice new champions and roles, which they may only be of gold skill in. They would never have a place to practice in if the MMRs followed one another.

See like that almost makes sense, but like how is it fair that when I'm trying to practice I get put against a diamond yasuo main? See it doesn't diamonds should play diamonds, silvers should play silvers etc etc.

But they don't play like their rank when they're in normals. They don't 'tryhard' so for that match they aren't 'diamond.' As an aside, what should someone face if they are unranked or play very little ranked... new players? Having separate mmrs allows them to balance for their relative effort without forcing diamonds to indirectly only play ranked by having hour-long queue times in normals.

What about the golds/silvers that arent 'tryharding' either? I dont mind personally, I like the challenge, but for others I could see it being annoying.

I think It's pretty different. I'd hope the same amount of "don't care" golds would be on each team, so they'd even out.

There's a base amount of muscle memory that the diamonds usually have that "lower ranks" don't. When the diamonds don't care it ends up as "ah I'm so far ahead I can try this no matter what if I get serious no biggie" so it's easier to catch them by surprise and punish a diamond in normals than in ranked since they'll chase and risk more usually.

The best comparison I can make is compare someone playing a normal while practicing for ranked to the same person doing a warm-up 1v5 custom game vs AI as their main.
