A short story about rage and how to avoid it
Hello guys. A silver scrub here. A few months back I got that 14-days ban from RIOT. I deserved it. Though I try not to rage at people i had a difficult period of my life, i had quit my job, so I had some free time and played a lot. Bad decision. I wanted to climb, but I was one of these players. In some games i performed somewhat OK, but apparently - not good enough to climb myself. I raged at teammates: "Why did you walk there, stop being out of position" and so on. Not really helping them. After my ban expired I returned to the game. But i thought to myself: "Why would i rage at first place? Why would I play, if this makes me angry?" And i decided to play for fun. And I decided to actually have fun playing. Started games with "Ok guys, let's have some fun here". Started joking with people, speaking with them. Stopped playing rankeds, focused on normals. When someone in my team was making bad plays i typed "dw man, we got this, this is a normal game after all, we are here to learn" and stuff like that. And WOW - it worked. I barely get angry when playing right now. And if that happen - jsut finish the game casually and go out. Drink a coffee, crap something to eat. Take a rest. And it happened - hell, now i enjoy the game. And a few weeks ago i got this green ribbon on my profile. It is not much, and i do not really care about it, but it is a nice thing to have. After some time i find out my teammates are kinda different now. I find most of them have the same mentality as mine - both now, when i am trying to be a nice guy, and back then when i was raging like hell. A few weeks ago i was in a normal queue and 2 guys said "support please". I said "guys, let's have some fun and 5 supports is fun". Noone said "omg this troll". They just loled and we ended up playing 5 supports. Needless to say what happened - i got stomped, all of my teammates got stomped. We lost the game badly, but during the whole game we were laughing and joking with each other. Noone ever flamed or offended. We even had some friendly chat with the enemy team. I got 4 "friendly" and 3 "Honorable opponent" at that game. But more important - I had one of the most fun games in my life.
Hope someone finds time to read this and maybe learn something. I do not think I have discovered something new. It is just a small reminder why we are all here playing the game which we love.
Thank for your time reading and answering, and have a wonderful day
