New Hud and why I will not play until it is reverted FELLOW COUNTRY MEN LEND ME YOUR EAR!
The new HUD in it's current form was always destined to fail. Conceptually, it was a poor design and add in the fact that the populace as a whole have an aversion to change and there was no chance.
Aversion to change aside though, this HUD would never work and the main reason for that is the area that it draws your eye to.
Yes, there are a lot of things that I don't enjoy about the hud - Color, size, lack of detail in the important areas - but the most important thing that they changed is the location of where they put things. With the old hud there was balance everywhere. It drew your eye to the center and allowed you to focus on what was happening. With the new hud, everything is focused to the bottom right of the screen. There is currently no reason to look on the left side of the screen unless you're checking an opponents stats and even then, it's generally more strategic to hit tab and just guess around where their stats are based off of items for fear of taking your eyes off of what's important for too long.
This is very important because it throws off every skill shot, and basically gives us a blind spot on the left hand side. In addition to that, the placement of the ally icons were not thought out very well. Placing them above the map is a bad idea because if you attempt to click on ally icon - as many shen players do - you run the risk of accidently clicking somewhere on the map by accident and screwing your self up bad.
So as my note to Riot, this was a poor concept that was conceptually bad and had no thought put into it. If you wanted to revamp the HUD you should have just given it a face lift and not changed where things were. There's an old adage that states "if it aint broke, don't fix it." and that applies to this scenario. It doesn't mean don't try and update it, but don't change the aspects of it that weren't in need of changing - primarily, location (side note: that idea to have all stats hidden normally was a stupid idea) . The best way to fix it is to roll back the new hud, and leave it out until you're able to create a patch that allows the user to pick which Hud - classic or new- that they would like to use.
Until then, this hud has made the game legitimately unplayable for me as my favorite champions are skill shot champions and with this hud throwing off my orientation so bad, there's no reason for me to play, all I would do is get frustrated. I'll be back when you decide to change things back to how they were.
I would ask that anyone who has a strong aversion to the hud and not change, to stop playing for this time being. Riot may be able to ignore comments, but a drop in sales immediately following the HUD update will force them to change.
