Is it just me or is match making a joke this season?

My gf is bronze 1 been playing for about 6 months. shes in her promos for silver 5 and i'm watching and the whole enemy team is fucking silver 2s and a silver 1 talon, whos shes laning against. Like wtf. Of course her team gets steamed rolled. And then after words shes super discouraged. like how are low elo players supposed to climb against that lol. when I was in bronze, in my bronze 1 promos I was against other bronze 1s and a couple silver 5s. whats up with this season?

It is not you. It's some joker or jokers at RIOT who's algorithm is horse feces and they think it's super cute to create more toxicity in league, like we don't have enough as it is.

The differences within 5 divisions are pretty imperceptible. You also get matched according to MMR not Rank, so you will be as evenly matched as can reasonably be done even if the Ranks don't suggest it. If you regularly get placed against players a full tier higher, then your MMR is probably a lot closer to their Rank than your own, and your LP gains will reflect it.

If she is being matched against players of a higher rank, then that generally means that her MMR is significantly higher than the average for her ranking.

Since her MMR seems to be higher than her current ranking, her LP gains should far outstrip her LP losses which makes climbing easier. While it is a little annoying during promo matches, it will help her out in the long run once she gets through them.

It isn't uncommon to have to repeat your promo matches a few times to succeed. If she deserves to climb, then she will.
