...was it really necessary to do it right after an IP Chroma Sale + 1500 IP Icon (God Fist Icon) of all times?

I dumped like 50k IP into that and was only sitting on ~10 IP after the announcement. Granted, I'll be able to gift both champions, but not everyone plays as much as I do.
