"You shouldn't rage because it hurts people's feelings and you don't know how they can handle it"

First let me preference by saying I'm not implying people that are extremely toxic shouldn't be punished.

Why do people use this argument? I see sooo many posts about people getting their feelings hurt because someone said something mean to them (like noob). Other people will then say something like, "It's an online video game, get over it." This is met with the typical response of, "some people have issues and they can't just 'get over it'."

Let's acknowledge that this is completely true. Some people actually do have skin so thin that they flip out over the phrase, "gg ez". I've seen it many of times on this boards. And that some of these people have mental issues that makes them act this way uncontrollably (like ppl with depression). Buuuut, on the same hand, couldn't it be said that people have raging issues that are uncontrollable as well? Why are we discriminating against mental issues that don't align with your view? I'm just saying using the "mental" argument is pretty dumb, because the same thing can be said with ragers. And I know people will say that ragers don't have a place in the game, but then you can simply say that mentally fragile people shouldn't be playing on the internet knowing how people act on it.

Tl;dr: If you're going to respond to a "get over it" comment by saying you have mental issues that prohibit you from doing so, then don't tell people that have mental issues causing them to flame to "just stop".

If people have some issue that makes them troll, excessively tilit, give up, or flip out is someway through just normal play; THEY SHOULD QUIT LEAGUE. Having a condition is not an excuse and people should not be doing things that effect them that badly. I feel bad that they have that condition but they should consider their own mental health and stay way from stressful environments.

Most people do not have REAL mental issues (out side of listening to people tell them they do). These people need to get over themselves and the bad behavior. You mute report and move on; end of the conversation. Yeah their are idiots in the game (and real world) move on.

I personally getting tired of these style of posts. We all know this happens, you posting is not doing a damn thing about but farming votes. Those that are trolls will avoid the thread and other people that can not get over the little things are going to white knight you. What a joke.

Some things are just difficult to argue. In this case it's arguing that you should be a good person.

You can't convince someone to be a good person. You can make them feel guilty, or threaten them, but it's ultimately their choice to be good or not.

If anything we should be putting some more effort into teaching people both how to write a legitimate argument and how to decide when you should argue.

From a purely selfish perspective: Raging at someone will usually make them play worse and decrease your chances off winning.

While i think these are true point i dont think there should ever be a permaban for toxicity, rather the perma bans be saved for those who really did something wrong, like hacking, sending links to viruses, cheating etc.

I agree partly with OP.

this argument is so :/ like regardless of whether you have issues, if you're being toxic then you're being toxic. it's as simple as that. i dont think people who have anger issues or people are easily hurt should play league though. i'm not saying they can't, but if i have a friend who wants to play it that i know has those issues then i would highly advise them against it. it's not them, but it's multiplayer team games with strangers like this in general. the environment can easily bring the worse out of anyone, but we should be encouraging everyone to stay positive regardless of where they're standing.
