Is the community Unfixable?

So I'm curious what you guys think. The community is one con that everyone who plays league of legends, as well as those thinking about if they want to play, notice. People are toxic, whether it be they are trolling, or they verbally abuse you for making a mistake. There are even times when they will rip you a new one when you try to pick something out of the meta.

For example. Let's say you want to try twitch top. So first you do your research. You look up some guides, and see some discussion on twitch top. You see that it could be viable especially in lower elos. So you go to customs and practice for a little while and get really familiar with it. Then you go ahead and pick it in champion select against a teemo. There are alot of times where you will get yelled at or someone will rage dodge because you picked twitch top.

Yet those same people will be fine if somone picks Shyvanna top even if they have 0 experience with her. This is just one example but you get the point.

There are people who quit league with "fun game, but people were too toxic for my taste"

And I can agree with them, most games I /mute all because I don't wanna deal with it.

So is the community unfixable or will it always be as toxic as mundo?

You should play Twitch top in team builder, so that at least people know what they're getting into before hand. This community does suck though. You're right about that.

I have such mixed feelings about this kind of stuff. I don't condone raging at people for off meta picks but at the same time I completely understand it. People want to win and this kind of thing is more often than not a detriment to your team. I consider myself pretty open to somewhat off meta stuff but off meta is basically interchangeable with terrible decision. I almost exclusively play top so if I saw a twitch top I would most likely just dodge. Ive played enough to know that a twitch is going to get stomped in lane against almost any matchup and its going to leave your team with a weak frontline. Its just not worth the headache, especially considering I know a lot of people have much stronger feelings about this than me so unless the twitch dominates the game its also almost guaranteed to be a ragefest.

I think you should take a little more time to consider the rest of your team ESPECIALLY in ranked. The meta is important because a team being on the same page is important and by making off meta picks you basically guarantee that you wont be because you aren't even reading out of the same book.

People wanna win , they don't want to lose because of the person that wanted twitch top. The community is OK there's only like one or two people who are toxic a game . But anyways if you're gonna break the meta tell them that you did research and tell them to look at your match history .

This is not a "League of Legends Community" thing. This is an "Online Video Games" thing. It's a "Teenagers Who Play Free-To-Play Games" thing. It's a people thing.

So in short: No.

there is a reason certain picks are 'meta'. its because they work the best.

sometimes an unusual pick can work, but remember its matchmaking - you are going to lose half your games. and when people lose they always look for something to blame it on. a pick like twitch top will be the scapegoat 9 times out of 10, even if you are doing well.

I like to play teemo jungle sometimes. recently I played a game where I was doing okay 4-1, but everyone on my team was losing lane badly. everyone agreed it was still all my fault somehow for taking teemo jungle.

unless you don't mind getting raged at and reported a lot its better to just stick to the meta.
