CV Buffs

So everyone who has been here awhile remembers when CV was the summoners must have spell way back when. But it's not anymore. Imagine every 60 seconds you could find out EXACTLY where the jungler was (assuming you got lucky and found him OR has a decent knowledge of jungle routes and times.)

That was a HUGE deal because if jungle was in his bottom jungle, top was safe and vice versa. It's a shame it isn't used much anymore. My question is why?

Simple because there are far better options.

CV vs Exhaust CV vs Ignite CV vs flash

Hell people may even choice CLARITY over CV

So how to buff it?

I have an idea.

  1. Reveal an area. Keep that the same.
  2. Enemies found stay under sight for 4 seconds
  3. When allies are found they get a 40 damage shield(scales per level)

Keep the CDR the same.

Why should this be done? Almost every summoner spell picked has something to do with tfing.

Why get flash? Ignite?Exhaust? All have to do with teamfighting. Except for smite obviously, although perfect for tfing at baron/dragon.

So the reason I believe CV isn't picked is it has NO tfing potential. So this is how I think it should be buffed. Because it's an AMAZING summoner spell, it's just very underpowered right now.

What do you guys think?

I dislike the idea of Clairvoyance giving any combat stats or effects. It's just not with the theme of the spell, and it should be powerful enough in the informational department to compete with the spells that do have combat use like Exhaust and Ignite.

I think there are several main issues with CV right now that cannot be addressed by changes to CV alone:

  • The current support meta hinges around all-in supports with powerful CC. Morgana, Braum, Thresh and Leona making up the top tiers of it and below them are the aggressive mage supports like Annie and Zyra. The type of champions who excelled with CV back in the day like Janna, Sona and Soraka are fairly under-valued right now.
  • The Orb Trinket. Summoner spells are very powerful, impactful choices that come in to play very often over the course of the match and cannot be changes. But trinkets are more flexible. You can start with a ward totem, then get a sweeper mid-game and finish it off with an Orb way late game. You're afforded this luxury cheaply and that's something that CV as a summoner spell can never compete with. Ever.
  • The vision it gives doesn't last long enough to make it through a team fight, and early game uses of it against an enemy jungler aren't particularly effective, because it will usually catch them doing a camp instead of on the way to a lane - and if caught they can turn around and just do another camp. It doesn't actually TAKE anything from the enemy.

But I reiterate, it's not in the style of Clairvoyance to aid combat in a way other than vision. It might help it if its sight debuff granted assists but that's only niche use, such as when you see your top laner fighting their opponent who is low but breaking sight in the bushes and you CV to give them the vision they need to ignite or Bladesurge or whatever etc. etc.

Giving CV a small shield just gives it another summoner spell to be outclassed by: Barrier. And then it gives a really bad either/or scenario. Do I use CV to reveal the enemy's jungle camps to look for the jungler or do I save it for when the enemy support jumps on my carry? If I use it else-where, does that give them the green light to initiate? If I use it to shield, does that invite the enemy jungler to gank more often because I won't be revealing them? It's just not a good conundrum, especially for a role that doesn't particularly need any more stress.
