You can't just remove a letter that's actually there to add depth to pronunciation. If you tried to just spell everything with a C instead with a S or a K then you would run into issues like someone already said, stuff like "shildren" which isn't at all the same sound and "shill" is actually a term used once upon a time :D you can't just replace old conventions in a language that's a mish-mash of like 5 other ones, everything turns into a mess right fast.
