What does every one think about a automated weekly tournament sorted by league/tier. Details inside

Hello, I would like to suggest something that some other games have done and it has been some of the funnest times gaming I've had, and I think it would be a great addition to LoL.

To put it simple the system would work like this:

  1. Anyone at any time during the week(in any league/division) can click the button "Register for weekly tournament".

  2. At a set time during the week, the system automatically builds teams similar to solo queue based on who is online/their division/league MMR etc builds as many teams as are people.

  3. These teams are placed into a group of let's say an arbitrary number eight other teams, also based on mmr/division etc.

  4. From this point, the teams proceed to face each other in a Bo1 format until there is a final winner. (for example: ro8, ro4, finals, winner).

  5. The winning team gets some form of prize. This is the entire point of the system - to give people who are improving and spamming solo queue games something to look forward to.

The prize can be anything - I would suggest perhaps some kind of a ribbon shown on profile where you get one for each weekly tourney you won to show off. Along with this, you can award lets say double IP or tripple IP for the final game of your mini-tourney for the winner.

I personally have had an AMAZING experience with this system in other games. I get a chance to put all my practice to use each week and possibly win something - and on top of this I've met many a friends with this system, it's a great social tool. If you pair up with a team you clash really well with and you guys destroy every one and get your prize - you can bet that's a new friendship started.

Thoughts?

EDIT: As a side note, the way I would imagine it working is anyone who is online 10 minutes prior to the weekly tournament starting would get an invite to accept the tourney spot/decline. If they went offline/were offline they were simply replaced with some one else who would accept the spot. If you dc/exit pre-game after you've accepted the invite, it also would replace you.

Yes! It would be a fun, accessible way for people to enter the tourny scene. I've always thought that Riot should hold some kind for weekly tournament with RP or IP as prizes.
