So one day, I decided I was going to buy a League of Legends account online( yes I know it's against policies) but I did it anyways.

Turns out the account I bought the guy was sending a keylogger while selling it to you and would just retake his account and re sell it.

A very popular scam indeed but I didn't fret because I just had my bank look at my prestine credit card records and they just gave me a chargeback. Too bad for the scammer

I decided this wasn't enough punishment for the scammer who immediately blocked me off Skype thinking he was clever (silly little child I will always get my money) even though I warned him

I submitted a request with all the chat logs and even showed I played a game on the account and knew the old password and had it under my email even at one point. I had all the necessary proof to ban the account that was being sold and resold and resold.

Paypal told me they banned that players account and gave me my money back after a 30 day long extensive search that found he was being flagged for scamming

  • How very businesslike and professional of Paypal support.

Riot however did nothing. Nothing was done, after reading all the false MMR boosting claims I went and looked and found that the account I once bought and played on is still being played on today, and that guy is still scamming kids lol

I find this pretty funny and ironic that Riot is punishing players so harshly for wanting to be good at the game and escaping elo hell rightfully so

However if you are buying and selling accounts and you rat someone out they literally do nothing for you and that person is not just cheating but is a legitimate THEIF that is condemn by every other company who I'm very grateful for my bank and Paypal support except Riot who is the only big name company that let the kid go to scam again.

Magically within 5 hours of this post coming to life and getting upvotes(I really thought it would be downvoted to shit) and after 2 months of no punishment to that account. The account no longer exists. Now I know you guys wouldn't get to know what account it was anyways but this is eerily weird as the account was active **TODAY **before I wrote this post

Also the submitted tickets was not even posted on this account or email so I'm not sure what happened, coincidence or not. I'm confused to say the least maybe he changed his account name after reading this? I don't know.

Higher level players make smurfs all the time. All their smurfs are high tier a rather short time after playing ranked on those accounts. There is no elo hell, the majority of low tier league players are just experiencing the dunning Kruger effect. People aren't just high elo for no reason, they experienced silver too.

I use to be really frustrated about being in bronze. I remember how irritated I was because people were just "not as good as me". I didn't understand why I was still bronze. I eventually changed my attitude and started focusing on my self. I almost instantly climbed from bronze to silver. I wasn't mechanically better. The thing that changed was my attitude. This is true for most people in bronze and silver. Mechanically bronze 5 - silver 3 aren't all that different. The main thing that separates the people in those tiers from people in gold is their attitude. As you go from gold to plat and diamond mechanics become more and more important. So what I would say to you is that elo hell is what you make it.

I would also argue it is easier to argue that elo hell exists when you have never been in gold or higher.

Right, but so is everyone on the enemy team. In order to believe in ELO hell, you have to believe that a person can consistently fail to win matches in which he is the best player. You also have to believe that results are not the most important indicator of skill. I find both of those stretch credulity beyond the breaking point.

The problem with ELO Hell logic is this:

  1. A player stuck in ELO hell must be appreciably better than the other people around them.

  2. The people around them do "unpredictable" (I read this as "dumb") things.

  3. The player himself does not do these dumb things, because he's better than those other people.

  4. If the player himself does not do dumb things, and he is by tragic mistake placed at an ELO where some players do dumb things, then he has four teammates who can do dumb things, and five opponents who can do dumb things. Basically, if he is randomly matched with someone who does dumb things, that person is more likely to be on the opposing team than on his own team.

ELO Hell is a psychological myth created by players seeking an explanation for the discrepancy between their perceived skill and their actual skill (for which the only reliable measure is results, pure and simple).

I think people who are actually lower Silver on a skill level might have huge problems when trying to climb out of low Bronze (placed there because they were new to the game, played on later). When I play with some friends of mine who are mostly Bronze I will just straight up dominate most of the games (I'm GoldV), no chance for my enemies, but most of the time I'll do that from an overall disadvantage since those friends of mine are just insanely bad, but tell me "Actually, I'm on a Gold/Platin skill level.". So sometimes, they'll just feed and feed and feed. In those games it's almost impossible to carry. So I think Elo-Hell may exist, but only for player who's skill advantage just isn't big enough to carry most of their games. So it'll be frustrating and taking more time than it should to climb up the ladder.

I've always thought of it something like this:

Low ranks tend to be a situation where ~40% of your games are unwinnable - no matter how close to your peak you play, you'll still lose - and ~40% of your games are effectively unlosable - no matter how poorly you play, you'll still win - and the last ~20% is where the difference is made.

The games you can't win and the games you can't lose negate each other, so all that really matters in terms of climbing are the ones where your performance makes all the difference. If you can win those more often than you lose them, you'll climb. If you can't, then you won't - and shouldn't.

Punctuation is your friend.

Because his assumption - and the way the sentence reads - indicates that the players are in the right for wanting to boost themselves.

Better punctuation or a small reworking of the sentence would have made your apparent intent far more clear.

Thesis-level precision isn't necessary - we're all about common language on the internet. But I think any form of communication is worthy of clarity.

I also think it's pretty bad form to insult people for misunderstanding what you're saying when that lack of understanding is based entirely on your failure to communicate clearly.

I just find humor in the fact you failed to effectively read a sentence that is pretty easily readable, without the proper punctuation and being spoken to colloquially. If you failed to, I suggest you brush up on your English as proofreading is a very tangible and useful thing to have in real life

I find humor in the fact that you can't tell that "Jubbinaut" and "Photos of Ghosts" are different people.

And since you decided to stoop to insulting my command of language, allow me to break down the sentence in question:

"I find this pretty funny and ironic" - Independent clause, the core of the sentence.

"that Riot is punishing players so harshly" - dependent clause, explains what "this" refers to from the independent clause.

"for wanting to be good at the game and escaping elo hell rightfully so" - prepositional clause, explaining the Riot punishments from the previous clause.

The location of the bolded segment is important here, because within that context, it appears to refer to the players' desires, rather than Riot's punishments. But some simple reworking removes that problem.

But hey, don't let that stop you from insulting me for pointing out that it's bad form to insult other people for misunderstanding your own poorly constructed sentences.

You seem convinced that I can't comprehend the statement you made - even after you clarified it. Which is funny, because I never indicated that I didn't understand it - I pointed out that it was poorly phrased, in hopes that you might give the guy who DID misunderstand it a bit of a break.

Obviously, despite your claims, you didn't read the first sentence of that post, or you might have caught on to the fact that I am not the person who misunderstood your statement. I'm just the guy who thinks it was a pretty crappy move to insult the guy who did - since his misunderstanding was due to your own crappy sentence structure.

Fox News is without a doubt the most bigoted and falsified News channel in the world. Any educated person can see this, so if i'm offending you by saying so, then so be it. There's a reason they've been sued several times this year for making up news out of thin air and having false "army veterans' who've never served a day in their life.

I just thought it's funny that Riot like to be all self righteous yet they don't come through when it matters most

Fair enough.

However I'm not doing this to release any sort of anguish by getting the player banned. I am more than pleased of what Paypal and my bank did, and i've accepted the fact that some things(a lot of things) Riot turns a blind eye to, no skin off my teeth.

I'm simply doing this to console all the players who seem to be 'falsely" accused of Elo boosting, and to point out the irony in story form(chose to believe it or not) from my experiences of how Riot is working so hard to ban players original accounts when there is a whole massive black market of banned players, permabanned players absolutely robbing them blind by buying accounts and in this singular instance they did nothing

On that note also: I'm not new to the internet, I wasn't born yesterday I know even if I do post the picture, people will still question the legitimacy until invite you all over to coffee and show you it on my computer...and that's not going to happen. So yes, believe it or not, I don't care.

Link to the sale of his account, which showed exactly how many champs, runes and skins on his account, the price.

Whole convo showing the switch of email, question and everything else in screenshot

The convo also included, the fact that I knew the old password and login info being shared(how is this something someone can't make up or even photoshop, it's a password that cannot be changed, a simple check into seeing if the password was changed at the same time of the convo would be 100% legitimate reason to ban the account)

, I also provided screenshot of the email where I got notification of password change(how would I attain this if this wasn't my account) or given to me and why would I ban my own account????

The would definitely see an IP change as I did play on the account

and a screenshot of the paypal transaction. (which had a message saying I would not chargeback/refund unless the account was compromised, and this was before the fact of me submitting the ticket)

Basically I provided them with everything they could possibly want and was completely willing to cooperate. They turned a blind eye, I had to ask another company to refund me. Which they did.

I was completely shocked as I found out they are just putting my submitted requests as solved at first I was really mad and checked up on the account to see if it would get banned after 30 days and getting my money back I didn't care at all just happy to get my money back. Now after reading all the false reports I decided to go back and look to see if it ever got banned, and it didn't!

I have a feeling the person playing now is the original owner who got their account back maybe. I don't know, it's just weird. If there's one thing I know Riot for it's being strict about toxicity and scamming, if not overly strict.

It is possible that in this specific case the account had been hacked by the person who sold it to you, or that the original owner fell for a similar scam that lost him his account.

The person playing on the account now may be the original owner.

Hmm I never thought of it like that. Seems highly unlikely since it was being played on that very same week and the seller told me he is the OG owner but it is a positive outlook I'm willing to accept. Thank you for that :)
