We need wood tier

http://na.op.gg/statistics/tier/ When looking at player distribution charts I'm seeing that it seems excessively skewed. Climbing a division in Bronze means that you're proving yourself to surpass 80,000 players (more as people continue to do placements) in skill. And yet you can do that with the same amount of LP as going from Gold 4 to Gold 5 which proves you to be better than 20,000 people. This is someone mitigated by MMR rankings which will lessen the amount of LP you gain when trying to pass that many people too quickly, but that just leads to more frustration and the concept of elo hell where you just can't move between tiers. And yet moving past that many people really should feel like more of an accomplishment.

So I think we need an extra tier in there to help reduce how ridiculously bottom heavy the ladder is. It could be called something like iron division or something but the concept remains the same. This would make it easier to lower elo players to get a sense of what they're actually climbing when they move past 80,000 players or more by breaking it down into smaller steps.

It could be the opposite of challenger tier, Challenged tier.

Alternatively the population could be shifted upwards a bit, but I feel that might frustrate people who fought really hard to get to gold and now find their achievement cheapened.

I'm all for new tiers (or maybe 6 divisions) but having a tier below bronze would just be degrading

people need to understand that wood is not a metal.

Funny but too degrading to be implemented. At least it should not be called "wood". Bronze is still a high value metal, while wood... you would call them "trash" it would be the same.

We need a challenger, but for the worst players. Basically, if you gain a losing streak in bronze 5, you will be demoted to copper, which is like a pit of elo, basically, the more you lose, the more negative lp you get, the deeper you fall into copper. It's like an anti challenger

Funny thing is that all those players from Bronze would just still be sitting in the lowest tier.

Maybe they should stop rolling people back entire divisions every new season for absolutely no reason

I get what you're saying, but you're thinking of it the wrong way. Just because you pass more people moving up a division in bronze doesn't mean that you're improving more than moving up a division in another tier... there are just more people that are close to your skill level. Think of it this way: if I grow an inch, I'll be 5'11. If Yao Ming grows an inch, he'll be really fucking tall. I'll pass tens of thousands of 5'10" people, and Yao Ming might pass... 4 or something. But we both grew an inch.

Should just chop the bottom off and have it mmr based. IE no matter what rank you are if you drop below xxx mmr you become unranked then the system can try and reseat you every 10-20 games. That way bronze players wouldn't have to play with unranked players and vice versa unless that player was about to be placed back into bronze.

no no. the ladder is bottom heavy because compared to the top, the majority of players are just that bad. we dont need more participation medals.

Well, being bronze v 0 lp means you are either mentally retarded, never touched a keyboard/mouse or <10 yo. I mean if you own 16 champs to play ranked you have spent enough time to learn the really basic things. This things are enough for being far from the absolute bottom.
