Discussion: Aurelion Sol

Aurelion Sol, possibly one of the most wanted champions to ever have been released... is now sitting at 6th least played champion in league of legends. Galeo gets played almost as much as the second newest champion in the game.

So whats wrong with Aurelion Sol? Why is he so unpopular? I personally believe its his clunky play style but I would like to hear your thoughts as well.

Ps: Stats wise hes not bad at all, 51% winrate, with a 64% winrate if you have 100 games on him.

He is quite weak overall, all of his power budget is dedicated to a gimicky eternally growing stun, that is is easy to dodge, he doesn't have the HP to the play the position his kit would feel the best in(jungle), and his AoE damage is null and void the moment any light CC touches him. He is not played because he is based on an idea that became a gimick, and has become a rather pathetic champion overall.

his biggest problem is that he's an item abuser and nothing else....

he's basically not a champion until you finish rylai's crystal scepter, and once you do you become the most broken shit in the game it feels like

and since you have horrendous mana costs, you need a mana item first, making him powerspike at 2 items where most popular midlaners currently spike after their 1st full item (it doesn't mean you lose as aurelion when that happens, it just means that you have a period of having to farm 3k gold while feeling a bit helpless while your lane opponent is already relevant if teamfights break out so it dampens the satisfaction of playing him)

also on his playstyle, he's basically the first ranged melee champion ever made, where you have a threat range of 600 max, and 600 min, making you super abuseable by your opponents (you can't all-in someone who has skillshot CC, because you can't dodge those without moving out of your threat range, basically ending the fight whether you dodge the hit or not)
