Upgrading my Graphics Card Nvidia GeForce GT 620 (2GB) ---> GTX 970 (4GB).

It has good reviews, great specs at a glance, and is compatible with my system. Upgrading from a 2GB Graphics Card to a 4GB Graphics Card in itself would be a big improvement.

Is this a good investment or not? Does anybody own/have experience with this Graphics Card?

I love my 970. Runs absolutely everything i play beautifully, and shadowplay is the shit for recording. only works in full screen, but doesn't touch your fps at all, and records high quiality.

Had 2 sli for about 3 days and then just sent them back and grabbed a 980. the 980 runs every game i throw at it maxed so im sure the 970 is the same with a 10-15 fps difference.

I have the Radeon 290, which I think is approximately equivalent.

Can you already run League at max graphics settings and above 60 fps? If you can, there is no real reason to get it, but of course it won't hurt.

I got a GTX960 (2GB) around mid February and have been able to run LoL on max settings ever since then. So your 4GB GTX970 should be more than enough. I also upgraded from an old laptop to a self-built desktop. Best decision ever.

I have an AMD Radeon HD 8570D

(And it's a piece of junk.)

I'm going to build my own computer in the near future with a Galaxy GeForce GTX 660 Ti.

The 620 is a really weak card. the 970 is a great card unless you are running a 4k monitor.

so for nvidia cards the first number is the generation number. The last 2 numbers plus the letters are telling you the quality of the card in that generation (this is a generalization but works well enough). Any modern series above x50 is pretty much going to get good fram rates in league.

part of your problem with the 620 is not the amount of ram but the pipelines and design of the card. You probably never used all 2 gigs of your original card. The bus bandwith was a major choke point.
