Dodge. Your promos mean nothing AT ALL!. You will get them again in a few games anyway. You have a whole year to rank up, so focus on improving and don't even check the ranked tab. If you think there is ANY difference of skill/game quality past that promo gate you are completely wrong. The mmr is fucking 20 higher average, you are playing with the exact same people, and the games are as such exactly the same. You just have a little badge next to your name that only you care about (for some reason? people put more stock into a few pixels than their actual skill metric (mmr))
If this was normals you probably wouldn't care, so treat it as such. Treat your op.gg mmr as your metric for improvement and play in ranked because the games are higher quality. You will feel much better.
If you get the time punishment for dodging, just wait for it since its wasting less time than playing that frustrating game anyway. If you lose promos who cares because they made it so easy to win the next one anyway.
People just put so much unnecessary stock into a fucking badge. There is literally no difference in skill between high silver and low gold, or low gold and mid gold and so on. Its a gradient.
WINNING YOUR PROMOS DOESN'T MAKE YOU A BETTER PLAYER THAN SOMEONE LOWER THAN YOU. YOUR SKILL AND OP.GG MMR DOES. RIOT WANTS YOU TO PUT STOCK INTO A RANKED SYSTEM BECAUSE IT PUSHES PEOPLE TO PLAY MORE AND CARE ABOUT THE GAMES MORE. You are playing into a hand that Riot put out. If you don't enjoy that (very obviously you seem not to) then don't play into that. Play into what you think is fun. From my experience, I feel this approach is much more fun, rewarding, and helps me improve easily 100s of times faster than I would otherwise.
I've had ranked games where I'm over 100 mmr higher than the highest player in the game but they are at gold 2 and I'm gold 5 and climbing, I'm getting 26-28 lp a win and climbing through bronze, silver, gold, and that means the system is only accurate at representing stagnating players, which I am not (and hopefully you aren't) so just STOP CARING.. Why the fuck would I care about a badge in that situation when very obviously I'm better than that player but the ranked system misrepresents it as the opposite. It's a flawed system (impossible not to be flawed.) So why not put more effort into looking at the real metric for skill (mmr)? Obviously over time I keep winning then the badge just gets shinier, its a little prize, not my entire reason for playing. If you don't put your mindset in this way and are also frustrated by your current mindset then just sorry dude. I hope you start enjoying it more^^
TL;DR it only forces you into it (from your point of view) because you are putting way too much stock into a system that was never even close to being accurate at portraying skill level unless a player stagnates for nearly 200+ games. Also, the representation difference for silver VS gold is so big, but the skill difference is so fucking small its almost comical how people freak out about it and try to buff their ego for being a gold player. Stop caring so much, and you'll enjoy it more, improve faster, and ironically rank up faster too.
