Not only do wards allow you to protect yourself in lane and find picks, the also allow your teammates to teleport in and help you when you get dived.
League is hard. It's even harder when you are stupid. Drop your free ward and upgrade it at level 9.

insert standard response But..But...warding is -Supports- job. It not my responsibility to help do support's job. Plus I need a way to blame support when I get 3v1'ed in the jungle /sarcasm
In all honesty (as a support main) I get really sick of hearing that warding the map is the -sole- responsibility of support. Meanwhile when everyone is 18 and I tab, I am the only one who even suggested upgrading trinkets.
