Iv'e been playing ranked for 5 years and I am getting close to quitting

Little backround before I go on a bit of a tirade. I am extremely competitive. I love the thrill of pitting myself against others and trying to come out on top. Its why I enjoy playing sports and competitive video games.

But I am almost done with ranked in league. It no longer feels like I am playing against other players to try and see who is better. Rather games just feel like an exercise where victory is determined by things completely out of my control. I feel like 20 percent of my games are won or lost by rage quitters and DC's. There is nothing remotely exiting about winning or losing a 4v5 for me.

This would be fine and dandy if it wasn't for the fact the rest of my games are not much better. A large portion of this playerbase from my experience lack the social skills to partake in a game of candyland, let alone an online PvP game like league of legends. I constantly find myself having to play the role of babysitter in ranked. Just trying to soothe over my immature teamates who can't help but rage at eachother at the smallest perceived slight or mistake. I like to win as much as the next guy but I'm not too keen on having to try and remind everybody that perhaps their energy would be better spent focusing on the game rather than fulfilling their online hate boner quota spitting vitriol at eachother; just so that I have a decent shot at winning a game.

I mean don't get me wrong, the games where I get teamates that work together are enjoyable to me and fuel me to continue playing...the problem I am having is that those moments are fewer and far between.

You have to realize that in a team game you have to not only hone your individual skills but also your ability to keep the team spirit high. That's why people in California do so well because high spirits are pretty much legal.

Have you heard of the 30/40/30 rule? It's not an exact number set but it's representative of the fact that in 30 percent of your games you'll be unable to carry your team, in 40 percent you'll be the deciding factor as to the outcome, and in 30 percent of your games you're gonna get carried.

Sometimes you gotta employ DST, sometimes you gotta type "/mute all" and move on, and sometimes you gotta accept the fact that a game is lost and just move on. I know it's hard. I struggled with it in both League of Legends and Hearthstone (where more than just skill decides matches. Screw RNG) but it's something you have to accept in a team game. Sorry it's been such a bad experience. Maybe just play some normals with friends for a while. It's a game after all. It's there for fun :)
