An RP to IP converter?

DrMarshSwamp·1/18/2015, 8:03:35 PM·12 votes·1,578 views

I don't know if its just me, but I get a bit annoyed when I have low RP and absolutely nothing to spend it on.

I mean sure it is nice to save it for later, but I kinda doubt 45 or less RP is really gonna boost up my next RP purchase all that much.

So I was wondering if there could be a possibility of some kind of RP-to-IP Conversion, something that'd at least let me get rid of the RP I can't spend on anything.

But then there is the issue of figuring out what values should be used (1 RP = X IP).

Edit: I'm not joking, I literally have 45 RP and nothing that I can do with it.

There's a reason Runes are only available for IP and not RP.

Then you could buy runes by using rp, I'm not sure if Riot would want that.

IP Boosts :)

Let's get the usual arguments about how this won't happen (pay2win, Riot encouraging ADD people to buy more RP to 0 it out) and concentrate on how it would be implemented.

I would set a very low cap on this. The lowest RP package gives 650 RP, so I would set the yearly cap at just over 10% of that - 80 RP (why this specific number? I'll get to it in a moment.)

Yes, the cap is really low. It relieves hacking problems where a hacker might dump RP->IP directly and gives them a benefit to allow ADD people to feel right about one more thing without allowing widespread conversion.

Now, 80 RP is exactly half of a 2 win IP boost, so call a capped conversion a 1 win IP boost. Doing a web search, a win can give anywhere from 76-168 IP, depending on the game length (Don't know if it's right, but I'll go with those numbers). Put this conversion on the upper end of that, and you get a 2 IP per RP conversion rate.

Yes, it seems like a really ****** conversion rate. But it's what it would be worth in a conversion.

You know all the people who ask Riot for super small amounts to get their next skin/champ? Like 1-2 rp?

Now, for the next 22-45 times this happens to you, you will not be one of those guys.

Thank you.

The reason RP-IP doesn't exist is because they don't want to make the game pay to win.

IP boosts are effectively this, and the conversion rate can be calculated from this.

when considering an RP purchase i like to use the 6300 IP champs 975 RP means 1RP = 6.46 IP.

in comparison over time IP boosts need ~ 13 games a day to meet this level of efficiency. per game IP boosts are far worse.

Every RP counts. Especially 45. I've had so many experiences where I had almost enough RP but just needed a couple more. I agree with the RP to IP converter though.

Yeah this sadly wouldn't happen.

The fact that you have left over RP is because it's there to temp you into buying more. That's how the business works.

It would ruin the Rune system into pay to win system It may seem rude but RITO would never do this There is already IP boosts if that is what you are looking for.

IP to RP convertors would be nice as well.

Yep, IP boosts are as far as I will go on allowing RP to boost games. You convert your RP to IP, that's instantly making the game P2W, which is NOT what a F2P game should be. You should be paying for convenience and cosmetics, not stats.
