@RiotScruffy / RiotRepertoir - can we get some reassurance that Morde will still be looked at...

After the the Juggernaut Patch goes live?

Now I don't want to bash on CertainlyT or anything like that, but I was wondering if we might get some reassurance that Mordekaiser will still be looked after when his rework goes live, preferably by multiple Rioters assuming the rework starts going poorly?

I respect CertainlyT's position as a game designer and feel that the hate that goes at him tends to get excessive, but I'm still worried about the plans he has for the Mordekaiser rework, as he is playing with a very risky rework that will either make or break Mordekaiser, with most people leaning towards the latter train of thought.

His rework is already killing solo-lane Mordekaiser, and if Mordekaiser doesn't do well in the bot-lane then he'll effectively be "dead", having no where to go where he can be mildly effective compared to almost any other Champion.

I just don't want to see that happen to a Champion, and with the responses made by CertainlyT along with the usual community pessimism it's looking like that may be the case come his release.

So I was just hoping that one of you (if you're willing to answer) might be able to talk with CertainlyT and the rest of the balance team or something to see if you can get more guys working on Mordekaiser if his overall play/winrate starts to severely drop after his rework, maybe try to address the popular concerns of Mordekaiser players and re-introduce him to solo-laning rather than "forced" to bot or something along those lines?

We've put time aside for follow up work on all four juggernauts, and the new items, during both 5.17 and 5.18's development in case it's needed. Morde's definitely the highest risk project of the four, both in terms of scope of changes and change in playstyle, so it seems a reasonable assumption he might need more follow up attention than average.

We'll make sure to give you folks some visibility into how we think each of those reworks is going post launch and what we are or aren't planning to change in response to that. One thing we do want to watch out for though is reacting too quickly to day one performance. With any rework a lot of people that aren't familiar with a champ, or haven't played them for a long time, give them a try to see what they're like now. That temporarily pulls a champ's performance down a lot briefly, as the need to learn new mechanics even for more experienced players. Day 1 win rates noticeably below a champ's previous win rate are basically expected as a result, though there's certainly a limit to how much lower they should be (Fiora for example's just too weak at present, in addition to going through that learning curve/new player period).

Can we get refunds for Morde? I don't play bot lane.

I really hate that they're forcing the meta by invalidating his skills in solo lanes. If you want to challenge the ADC/Support bot meta, fine. Design the game in such a way that this will be viable, and let players decide for themselves. With some ADCs going mid, we were already halfway there to potential meta shifts in bot. Don't make "duo lane only lololol" changes to an existing champ just because players aren't evolving the meta they way you want them to on your schedule.

I was kind of hoping that double Targon's bot lane would actually happen instead of just being this thing that people talked about a lot and never did. If that wasn't enough to bend the meta, then there's a real risk that the meta will break the champion rather than vice versa.
