Can we have a "Block chat Option"?

This game need an option where we can block the chat

The chat would be blocked you could see it but you wouldnt be able to type!!

This i am 100% sure it will reduce the toxicity of this game by big % simple because when someone who have anger issues he would block his chat and when he feel the need to say something salty for that 0/20 vlad who build BT on your promos he would need to go options and uncheck the box and bla bla all this time would have reduce all the steam and he would be like meh f@ck him i would just report him at the end!!

But when the chat is always open nothing stops that person from unleashing all the rage on this vlad!!

I dont get why this game dosent have this option after 5 years...

The game does have chat bans.....

Riot's talked about this before. Here's what I think their current stance on the subject is:

The feature is too niche. It's only useful to toxic people - 1% of players. Whittle that percentage down a little more, because only a handful of those users are considerate, self-conscious, and good-natured enough to want to limit their toxicity by opting into a mute or chat restriction. Riot would rather spend resources on features that serve a bigger portion of the community, like balancing, game modes, champions, skins, and so on.

That's not to say that an opt-in feature is a bad idea; it's actually a really neat concept. It would definitely reduce overall toxicity. It just wouldn't have the huge impact you think it would - because it would be under-utilized.

Also not saying that It will never happened. Riot very well might decide to develop the feature some day. I just don't think it's a priority for them right now.

Honestly I don't understand why we can't just unbind the enter key like we can with spell hotkeys. =/

I don't feel like this would actually help anything

As somebody who has anger issues, I do type "fuck" or "shit" into chat when something goes wrong usually. But before anyone starts to get on me about that, I'm not one of those people who flames others for their mistakes constantly and keeps telling people they suck and things like that

But I doubt toxic people would actually utilize this because they either enjoy being toxic or they're too immature to actually use it, because they don't think they are toxic
