ok. hear me out. i'm not talking about the people who are legitimately trying to win and don't want to give up. i''m talking about the people who feed the other team or sit in base. and then they and their duo partner keep voting no when the team tries to ff and punish their team by forcing them to stay in game or risk getting banned for afk. a solution i have. is after so many surrender attempts implement a "mercy rule" where you make it so rather than 4/1 the game can end with a 3/2 majority after lets say 5 failed attempts. because no one wants to feel like they are trapped in a game they can't win. all that does. is make people whine at each other. and it's at this point in games where i see the most toxic behavior happen. where it's 5/30 down 3 dragons. and a duo queue has been controlling the ff vote for the last 15 minutes. this is where i see the most rage afking. IFing and death threats

The flip side of this is that maybe there's a duo that wants to give up, and a second duo is keeping the game alive by not surrendering, because they still see a decent chance of winning. What happens when the team surrenders out from under you because suddenly the requirement is 3 rather than 4?

Instead of crying because you think you are being trolled, maybe you should respect someone's decision to not surrender. I don't care how much you have already lost, you have no right to claim that you NEED to surrender. When you join a game, you make a silent contract with the other players to keep playing to the best of your abilities. You should get reported if you do not. Deal with it.

I can't agree with this.

The problem I have is that I've seen too many players give up long before the game is really out of balance. Surrender votes need to be for when the game is truly lost, not because your team is down 2 towers and 1 dragon at 20 minutes.

Worse, I have had people try to surrender and use the excuse "please I have to go". If that is true then why did they queue up for a game? I know that most often its because this is an unskilled player who is getting "rekted' and they want out of the game, but they use the excuse to try to hide the fact that they are simply not willing to play the game out. Even if the rest of the team says that its still winnable.

That said, I have seen cases where a duo queue kept refusing a surrender just to be trolls. I was in one game where 3 of us had joined as a group. One of the two others who joined us had a bad start, and then started arguing with one of the members of my trio. (not me, I refuse to argue in game.) We started losing badly (as happens when your team argues in chat.) The other solo player started calling for a surrender, but the member of my trio who was arguing refused to vote "yes" because he wanted to punish the player he was arguing with.

It was an ugly situation.

The solution won't be to change the surrender rules. Instead there needs to be a way to ensure that people joining a game have a certain level of skill at the role they will play. The biggest reason I see people get salty is when the matchmaking produces an uneven match. The team that is losing often starts arguing, especially if someone is off-meta or clearly unskilled on the champ they are playing. That is what Riot needs to fix. I was hoping the champion mastery would help, but it appears that they abandoned the idea.

I have won so many games after a 3/2 surrender vote. People give up so easily. What ever happened to the American spirit?

I don't think it's a problem. Mainly because with this type of genre with this game, anything can happen. Surrendering so early or at the moment you feel like you have lost doesn't mean it will. Always play till the end because you never know the outcome till it comes! For all you know someone will dc, or just because someone is fed doesn't mean they'll use that to its fullest! Now granted it's pretty understandable when the game has been lost, but it still falls on majority rules. If the team still feels we can win, play it out!

I voted other, simply because I like picking champions that destroy turrets and have won MANY ranked games that my team tried to surrender but my duo partner and I kept voting no. Yay for backdooring. However, if you don't have a split-pusher on your team and you are down 10-30 in kills, its gg.

Had no idea that no surrender trolling was a thing until this board post. I never witnessed it so I wouldn't worry about it. Honestly, I think that people who get angry because some people don't want to surrender are a bigger problem. I don't like it when I'm doing well and want to see if I can't turn the game around, and then get yelled at for not surrendering. If I can potentially carry the game, I will take the shot. I also was (supposedly) reported for not surrendering because "it was not cooperating with the team." This blew my mind. It is a vote, meaning I have the right to choose what option I want without punishment. With this logic, I shouldn't be posting this comment. I should be in prison because I voted for Mitt Romney in the 2012 election. I think this is the real problem here.

No it's not a problem. The problem is the button even exists in the first place. Take the option away from people who want to quit all the friggin time knowing nothing about the outcome and eventually you will get these asshats to quit league altogether.

Also, you will, in time create a better player base because now people do not have that crutch anymore so they will either learn to play the game and stop screwing around or waste their time. Say what you will about well Riot don't want to lose players because they lose money , yada, yada, yada, BS. You want a solution then be harder on idiots and get rid of them by making it harder and harder for them to quit.

Honestly, I don't know how it looks like in normals since I rarely play them, but "Never surrender" in ranked is a tumor. You could be practically playing 2v8, but team still won't surrender, because there MIGHT be a chance to win.

There are games which people won't surrender, even if in order to win, at least 3 people from enemy team would have to go AFK to even think, about getting near their base.

like 2 people go afk and dont allow for a surrender. havent seen that yet. Been running into new kinds of trolling like the one where the jungler waits for you to almost die while leashing him to intentionally screw up your laning phase or a support who afks in a bush until you die, but not this yet
