But, if you go 5-5 in your probisionals, shouldn't you end up where you were last season? Like, you were Silver 3. Regardless of your MMR, if you go 5-5, you should be placed in Silver 3 with Silver 3 MMR, in my opinion. If you do better than that, you should bump up....if you do worse, you should drop.

I was gold 5, like 80 lp at the end of last season, I'm currently 4-4 in my provisionals thanks to 3 games of trolls (1 game we just legit threw. No one would listen to group and our mid and adc ran off at 45 mins into the jungle for whatever reason and got caught..duh. The one was afk and the other 2 we had legit troll players. One that our adc said "janna. you have to throw tornadoes. you can't just sit at tower and shield yourself. Bless that poor Trist because he was nice and I would have been raging).

Anyway, after seeing people's posts, I'm afraid I will even end up 6-4 and be placed in fucking bronze again. I mean, I saw a plat player get silver after provisionals.

The placement formula is:

(1250 + Your Season 4 MMR)/2 + (250 - (50 x # of placement losses)) - 150 = your MMR

Lower elo players can go 5/5 and improve, but higher elo players will probably go down.

I don't know. I see plenty of people bitching about going 7-3 and getting bronze 5 lol.

Riot doesn't give the exact formula they use, so this is not exact by a long shot.

But if you were rated in high Silver or better, the soft reset lowered your MMR. Going 5-5 will put you around where your MMR ended up after the reset (ie, lower than it was).

Interesting you say that, because it's exactly matched every Lolking I've checked. To be fair, I've only done it to 3 different account, but they were all exactly correct. There's no guarantee that Lolking is right either, but they're generally considered accurate.

Sites like Lolking or OP.gg use various formulas and estimations -- Riot does not expose anybody's MMR through their data APIs.

That formula may "exactly match" what Lolking reports, but that doesn't mean it's remotely close to what Riot is really doing internally.

it's a reflection of your MMR, not your league from the previous season.

As I suspected. End season 4 with gold 5 80 lp, go 6-4 in placements and get placed in silver 3.

How does this make any logical sense?
