when you surrender it counts as a loss and lowers your mmr. lower mmr = easier games. easier games = more fun for your 4 man.

plus they surrendered a game that they know they actually won. so it doesn't feel like a loss in any way.

of course its fun! they can play new champions or funny lineups and mess around and still get a win. they don't have constant pressure to hit every cs or to never mess up without risking throwing the game.

they can just relax and have a good time without stressing or getting crushed. it Is very appealing. I don't know why we don't see more of it.

they very likely don't surrender every game to get easier and easier. they can get to the mmr they want and then just surrender half of them to maintain their position at exactly the difficulty they like.

Surrender a few games, but winning others as well. MMR stomping? That's not cool. The games they surrender is a mercy's rule for the enemy team, but what of the people they beat? They never had a chance.
