Why am I forced to buy zhonias vs zed

No other champion In the game is countered so hard by one item. This is a stupid setup I don't like zhonias but I have to buy it against zed.

Actually, quick silver slash alone doesn't really stop Malzahar. It lets you leave his oppression, but the damage will still get you.

I mean it's MR as well. No it's not a 100% counter like Zhonya's is to Zed ult, but it's a pretty big one.

He gets countered pretty hard by this Item, since it will remove the Silence from his Q, the DoT from his E and the Suppresion from his ult, leaving him with merely his Pool and some damage from his ult, which is reduced by the Magic Resist.

You aren't? You can build some health instead if you want, like ROA, Rylais or Liandries and it will serve the same purpose of making sure he can't 100-0 you.
