In your honest opinion, is this worth a 2 week ban? (with logs :) )

I mean, if you wanna give me a chat ban, go for it lol. But a 2 week ban? Seems a little minor for 2 week ban criteria. The first parts were me talking to my bud Naut from last game (vayne this one)...actually most of the logs were me talking to him. The other part is me telling Yi he shouldn't be calling me a feeder when he has 11 deaths to my 1 or 2 lol. I mean, if the other team wasn't talking back to me, I could see it being annoying lol...but they were more friendly than my team was with me lol. I don't know, let me know what ya think.

Seriously, I can see that you did go over the line several times in your comments. You also were rather open in taunting the Master Yi player, so if he did decide to report you, there was evidence of a negative attitude and some verbal abuse.

My question would be was this the only game, or were there others? Also did the enemy team report you or were they the type to laugh about your comments? Both would have an effect. If the enemy team felt you got annoying or went on too long those reports, plus the ones from your own team would likely have attracted additional scrutiny.

You only have a single game's chat log, but from what you posted, you do have an negative attitude and a unfortunate tendency to resort to a bit of abuse. Here are a few examples.

Basically you ran into the old axiom, one that I suggest you try to live when playing LoL. "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything." You entered the room predicting problems and even told the enemy team that your teams always include trolls and then you went out of your way to prove it. You even dragged the other team into the trolling by talking in All-chat.

Personally I wouldn't have reported you, because I find this kind of trolling to be pathetic. I would have just shook my head and if I was on the enemy team worked to crush you quickly as your attitude had to have been dragging your own team down. And since I don't speak much in game, I would have been very unlikely to wind up being attacked by you. I find that chat is useful for things like. "Drag in 1 min", but I don't try to chat during a fight.

If you are this way often, I can understand the ban. You aren't using racist or sexist insults, but the flow of negative comments you made is bound to irritate and annoy your team, so reports would flow even if you don't curse. Its unfortunate, but I have to say that Riot probably is correct in making the decision to give you a short break from LoL.

I don't know, I asked support guy for a second example, since I don't think they throw 2 week bans out for 1 game, so we shall see lol. No, the enemy team didn't report me. Most of the time, I was talking to them lol. I said that I could see it being annoying if I was just spamming chat with no responses, but they were responding and even initiating convos. Hence the volume of chat xD

This was actually in response to the panth making rude comments about someone on their team, so I told them to ignore him because he was just mad he lost. Not trolling.

That is just stupid. Reported for asking the enemy team to report a toxic player? Many many players don't stick around in post game lobby, so some things need done so they can see them.

Again, you keep pointing out that I am negative, which sure, I am. I am going to be negative if someone is feeding and blaming for the loss lol. I guess now I have to say "gj!" or "nice try" throughout the entire game, even when people die. Gotta have the positive image for rito. Bottom line is that I think negative attitude would fall under chat restriction, not 2 week ban. I am not verbally abusing anyone, which is what they say the bans are for. I don't know, I just think rito is getting too quick to hand out "toxic" punishments while not doing a single thing about trolling player...which is what leads to toxicity in the game. I've never seen anyone get flamed for just losing a lane or anything...always the players that are 0/5/0 by 4 mins.

One thing I've noticed if all the posts in this forum are to be believed is that Riot is no different from officials in the NFL or NBA. The person who instigated a confrontation isn't always penalized, but the player who retaliates ALWAYS draws a penalty.

That's probably the biggest problem I believe you have. You claim here that you are reacting to the other players comments, but if you are being reported by them, Riot isn't looking for context at that point, they are looking at what you said. Yes, you may feel that you were provoked by someone acting like a troll, but to Riot the question is "did he speak in a negative way that violates our EULA?" The log here is definitely not the worst I've ever seen, but it does display a lot of negativity which is something Riot is trying to remove. The context of why you were negative is lost without the responses, but I don't think Riot is looking into context. They just want to know if you were negative.

I don't say "gj" or "nice try" throughout a game. In fact I expect my chat logs are rather bare of comment as I tend to say little. Part of this is that I do have a headset and often play with a team of 4 or 5 players and don't have to type much, but even when I do enter a game solo I try to keep my typing to 3 things

  1. I do try to say "gj" when someone on my team makes a good play, especially early when a positive attitude can often start a snowball rolling for our team. But this usually only happens if I'm backing or our team manages to win a team fight but I died during it.

  2. I jungle a lot and I'll say something like. "Let me finish red buff and then I'll head to top lane." So my laners know I'm coming to gank their lane.

  3. If I make a particularly bad play I'll type "my bad." Sometimes I'll include a comment as to what I was or wasn't thinking, but that's about it. Usually this ends up being something like. "My bad, missed my Q." or something similar. Sometimes it isn't entirely my fault, but I'll still quickly state that just to stop a blamestorm from starting.

And I should note I've seen people flamed for losing lane. It's even happened to me when I tried to take Irelia top against an experienced Gnar (I'm passable on Irelia, but this Gnar was a lot better than me.). I lost the lane hard, despite trying to stay under turret to farm, and I took a lot of flack from some of my teammates for it. I don't know how I managed to avoid raging at them, but I kept quiet and just fought through what was for me an extremely unpleasant match.

I'm not trying to say I shouldn't get punished because he started it. I am simply saying I think chat ban would have been sufficient. Not chat ban + ranked ban + 2 week ban.

Then report the player yourself. Only one report per game is required for a flag. Do you expect the other team to just believe you when you say your teammate is toxic in team chat? There are a lot of people who lie about that sort of thing in /all. Never ask for someone to report, and only report if you have seen something reportable with your own eyes.

It takes more than 1 game to get a ban. That game alone probably wouldn't be enough, but who knows the rest of your games. Judging by the way you act on here, I wouldn't be surprised if there was much worse in your other games' history.

Got my ticket answered today...this is what I got:

"Good morning Nucleophilic atk,

Logs resulting from your audit were provided in a previous response that reflects the toxic behavior that lead to the suspension, as well as provided substantial visibility towards the negative experiences caused to others. If there are no other concerns, we will be considering the matter closed."

I can only assume that is the only game they have lol. If they had much worse in my other games, I think they would be quick to show them...just as Lyte does. Again, not saying I didn't deserve a punishment, but I think chat ban would have been sufficient...not a 2 week ban + chat ban + ranked ban for this game.

I would recommend typing about 1/16th of what you are currently typing in game. Communicate with pings and keep typing for saying things like "good job" or "drag in 1 minute get ready"

I can't say what punishment would be appropriate for this - that depends strongly on your history with the system and the other games in the case. But I can say this: If I had seen this game in the Tribunal, I would have chosen to Punish it.

Depends on information I don't have. Some questions I'd want to know the answers to before deciding what an appropriate punishment would be (to me):

  • What report density were you at when the case was reviewed?
  • How many games were in the case?
  • How many of those were - by themselves - punishable?
  • Have you had previous sanctions - and if so, what kinds/how many?

Since I don't have the answers to any of those questions, I'm forced to trust that those who do have those answers know what they're doing.
