What benefit is there to Draven's axe catching mini game?

SO MANY marksmen deal so much damage, have so much utility that draven is an artifact in comparison. The axe catching game is just not cutting it anymore when champions like Graves and Quinn can simply burst you down/blind you in the time it take for the blade to reach halfway into the air.
