Why is leaving such an extreme offense?

As title says. I never understood why leaving is so against the rules to such an extreme. I can understand abusing it but its like, i've had a few games where people would argue at champ select and end up picking their champs anyways when where they want to go is taken. Like I had games where we would have 3 supports and no adc or mid since people are dense and all wanted bot. Or games where its clear you lost, you have a score like 10 kills vs 40 and they have all but your base turrets or even those too while they have all their turrets still and every dragon and yet you get those 2 guys that keep saying no to surrender when you have 0 chance of coming back from that. Like I had a game with such scores and even the support like blitz was owning us it was that bad.

I just don't get why its so horrible to just get out when you see such senarios. I am not one that leaves games but when I see chaos in champ select and we aren't even in the game yet, I want no part in it. Or if we are in a game and its already clearly a loss but you have some people that refuse to surrender that I don't see the point of staying. I can understand if you have a chance to comeback but let's be real, those aren't all the time, most games are usually you get facerolled or the enemy does. Its literally pointless to continue such games, all due to 2 hard headed people deciding they are either trolling or to be blunt, stupid and think we still got a chance.

I am fairly new to Lol so why is it such a big deal? Like I know having a leave in the beginning or during an actual game is extremely bad, but when the game is so unbalanced that you got no chance, why is it so bad? Or when the game hasn't even started and you got people cussing and arguing, why it is so negative to just dodge the match and save yourself 20-60 minutes of hell.

The point of the game is to play the game, when one player makes the decision to leave it doesn't just affect the leaver, it affects the 4 others who were matched with you. Yes there are games where your chances of winning are very slim and it may seem at a certain point that even trying is pointless. But the purpose of the game is to have fun. Even if you are losing and are sure the end result is a loss you still should play to learn and still just go for it because that is the whole purpose.

Because you ignore the very first point of the Summoner's Code if you leave, which is SUPPORT YOUR TEAM. http://gameinfo.euw.leagueoflegends.com/en/game-info/get-started/summoners-code/

The reason why leaving is such a big offense is because it affects your whole team, 4 other people who are in the game with you. You leaving equals them having to deal with a 4v5 scenario, which isn't fair to them. This isn't like FPS games where you can just leave and someone else can take your spot, they are permanently down another player.

Also for some people not surrendering, it can be multiple reasons. For me, I often don't surrender because it gives me experience playing in hopeless scenarios and to try and make a comeback off of bad enemy plays. It also lets me practice my mechanics and to get better with my champion overall, which is why I often play normals. Win OR lose, I get more experience with my champion and honestly losing makes it easier for me to accept mistakes. If it was a close match up, that mistake could/would cost me the lane/game, but if its a losing game anyways, I won't be as upset by it. Another reason is that not everyone has an unlimited amount of time. Maybe that is their only/last game of the day, so they want to play as much as they can. My last reason, which is bad, is if someone is raging and being toxic on our team, I don't mind staying in the game to make them suffer, ESPECIALLY when it was them who fed the enemy team.

like many have said leaving ruins game for your team and they are stuck playing 4v5 for 20 min minimum, and if this game was someones last can you imagine how frustrating that could be?

If you feel like not playing the game you just started dont start one in the first place, if you did play till end
