Let's talk about stats!
Hey there I'd like to discuss something that's often forgotten, but can be very interesting for quite a few of us, stats. Even if some might find them meaningless or boring, they help to make more informed decisions when you look at them from the right angle.
Seeing as recently Riot has been thriving to bring the best of what makes a good match history to their main site instead of leaving us to search from scrambled information on different third party sites I was hoping they could give a similar threatment to the whole "stats" front.
Here's my personal (and somehow exhaustive) list of important and interesting stats that should be added if Riot was to give them a spot on their main site. I'll try to give a brief explanation for most of them when it's not too obvious why they should be there. Also let me know in a comment if there's something you think I should add/remove. Also a standard deviation could be added to some stats like K/D/A, it tells you if a champion is more feast/famine or stable, in that case.
Imagine it lolking style: http://www.lolking.net/champions/
General stats:
Win rate on average and depending on length of the game: This allows you to tell if a champion scales the way you think as the game progresses. To see it you could simply click on win rates to see the graph based on length of the game. Pick rate Ban rate K/D/A Dmg dealt to champions: It's usually a good measure to see how good you are as a dmg dealer. Could perhaps use a graph based on length of the game too, to see when most powerful. Dmg taken from champions: Same as previous. CS average gold, % of team: Allows you to see how much of the team budget you usually require, could also use an average for your role to see how much you need to consume compared to someone from the same role. gold wasted, % of total gold gained: By wasted I mean used on wards/consummables and lost when selling stuff (don't forget to code it while thinking about the undo button), could be interesting to see how much is spent for bronze vs diamond % of your total gold between CS/objectives/kill/passive: How much is each category really worth? Also allows to see what people consider important depending on the tier. average length of the game: How does each champion warp the game making it longer/shorter?
Some useful filters: Between patch x and patch x: for example 4.14-4.14 would be about the length of a single patch, can be used the moment a patch is out Between rank xx and rank xx or even blindpick: example bronze3-silver2 (by default last 2 patches + current), by the way blind pick can let you know the importance of first picking and counterpicking For specific server(s) or all of them: Can tell you interesting things about each region style Ability to remove champion on enemy/ally from the stat: Imagine You have a list of all champions and you click on their icon to remove them from the stats, for example in the ally option I remove Aatrox and it doesn't count the games where Aatrox is on your team, the enemy team filter removes the stats where for example Lee Sin was on the enemy team, can interesting to see how much the tank junglers win rates (or maybe don't) increase when an oppressive pick becomes nonfactor
Champion specific: Below the general stats would be a graph about a specific champion of your choice (still affected by the filters above) Data (and graph when necessary) about champion x general stat (from the list of stats previously mentionned) in comparaison to when you add filters (so when adding x filter you see that their win rate raises by 2% for example) Against champion x (and x): Allows you to see who he counters or get countered by, you can choose more than 1 champion, maybe he's good against A, but when A is with B not anymore With champion x (and x): To see who he synergize with and further who can break or enhance that synergy Based on number of game played with a champ from x to x (or up to x/down from x): Would give a general idea on how expertize with a champion affect things (number of games prolly not best way to do it though) Win/pick rate of list of items: Allows you to see what can popular/good on champ, by using different filters can also allow you to see what items are a good choice Win/pick rate of summoner spells: Same as before Sample size should be there to see if the stats can be relied on
A differentiation for champion who play more than one role could be very useful: A champion might suck at a role that people play him at alot and bring down his stats in another, so in the list of champs there could be top lane Aatrox and jungle Aatrox being seperate.
To conclude I'll give an example of a specific search you could make to learn something you couldn't have figured out otherwise: You wanna know how well Amumu does when he has an Orianna on his team and see a good increase in win rate , but you then decide to see if there's also a Khazix on the enemy team to see if Amumu is set behind how much it affects him and see it doesn't do all that much, but if you decide to check if Khazix was an experienced one with 150+ games as him that it becomes very significant, but he also sees that if he manages to stale the game his chances of winning go way back up past the 35min mark.
That's the kind of semi complicated data you could get or you could just check how well Amumu does vs Lee sin and see that his win rate actually increases.
Other general stats that can interesting: How many people there are in each tier/divison Average number dragon/baron per game, average first time it's done, win % for first and or number of dragons/barons a winning team has over the losing one Win % for first blood/tower/inbib/nexustower Average gold per role and % of total team gold
