Issue IP bans so toxic people cant come back in 5 min

Banned players need to work a little harder to get back into league IMO.

I have a friend that i played with that was permabanned on 3 accounts because he is literally the epitome of toxicity, and not 5 min after his bans, he would be back playing. He even will just buy lvl 30 accounts for 15 bucks, because its worth it to him. Now he even has become so toxic with me that i can barely play with him because all he does is rage.

I know banning ip addresses is difficult and is relatively easy to get around, but it would at least make banned people have to work a little harder to keep playing. Maybe there is another option as well, but banned players being right back into the game in 5 min with a simple email address is a bit ridiculous.

All bans currently do is take skins away, they don't actually clean up the community.

Riot used to do IP bans.

Then they accidentally banned a bunch of Internet cafes and some colleges that used NAT.

Not to mention that they're trivial to work around, and many ISPs will periodically issue you a new IP address anyway (which then means some other person is randomly banned).

IP bans don't work.

Riot makes a ton of money off of toxic idiots. Ban them on one account, they have to re-buy all the skins/champs. I dunno if Riot would prefer the money, or the clean community.

But I do not agree with IP bans, because suppose there is another family member in the house, or a roommate, who also uses the same computer to play League? That would punish them for someone else's actions.

The problem is that there are ways around the bans as others have said.

There is no simple solution to the toxic players. As long as they get a certain minimum level of enjoyment they will return, at least until they find another game or community to infest. Riot does try to limit it with the chat restrictions and bans, but a determined rager can and will return.

I think the record I've heard of in an MMO was someone who went through something like 40 characters in one game a few years back. This was across some 9 different accounts (some purchased, some he worked up to top levels himself.) The guy could be pleasant at times, but was dedicated to PvP and tended to be quite abusive in arena fights. Several people in the community spent quite a bit of time trying to get him to back down after he cracked, but instead he went on a 3 week spree of breaking every rule in the EULA. Character after Character was "jailed' and accounts were shut down, but he kept coming back. To be honest, I think he just finally grew bored as the attacks just stopped one day.

And that's what we have in league. The toxic players will keep coming back until they don't feel like the game rewards them.

And since each person has a different reason for sticking around, solving it the situation is very hard.

I hear you guys, and i said ip bans are problematic and easy to circumvent anyway, are there any other options? It just seems like there isnt really a point in banning anyone if they can be back in a game within 5 min time.

it takes less than 5 mins to switch IPs

how about a toxic player virus that completely destroys their cpu? that will slow them down a bit.
