Looking to Help Others with My YouTube
As corny as it sounds my real passion in life is trying to help other people. It’s why I joined the military. It’s why I’ve been a mentor and tutor at every school and university I’ve attended from middle school to graduate school. It’s why I teach martial arts at my local MMA gym.
It’s also why I started a YouTube channel. I’ve been a gamer all my life so it only seemed natural to try and help people through games as well. I’ve used games for years to chat with people and help them with their problems in an environment where they feel comfortable so I figured why not try to help a lot more people with a YouTube channel? While I have by no means mastered this game, my background in the military, martial arts, and high level RTS games like Starcraft II gives me a very unique perspective on strategy and tactics in League. My life experiences have also given me a lot of hard taught lessons and allow me to empathize with just about anything a person is going through.
I have several series of videos that I’m working on and I’m currently developing a few more that I plan on debuting in the coming months:
Random Normals This is a series where I will fill whatever role my team needs me to play and I play a different champion each game. The goal of these videos it to figure out which champions I want to play in ranked in season 6 and force myself to play champions I am not familiar with so I have to rely on mechanics and decision making to win the game rather than skill with the champion. I cover some strategy in these videos but the real point I’m trying to show with these videos is that most games are won and lost because of mistakes, not because you or your teammates are good/bad with a champion. In this series I post both games where I carry and games where I fail hard so you get to see my reaction/mentality even when things are going horribly. For these videos I will take recommendations on which champions you want me to play next (or even buy.)
PBE Preview In these videos I go on my PBE account and show off some of the changes that may be coming in the next patch. What videos I make with these series is truly up to you. If you want a video on a particular champion or item or mastery I’ll do my best to make a video on it in a timely manner.
Highlights These are just edited versions of my Random Normals and PBE Preview games for those who don’t time to watch an entire game. I condense all the fancy plays and team fights along with anything humorous or educational I say. With these videos you won’t get the full story like you will with one of my full games but they are useful if you only have a few minutes to spare.
Random Ramblings These are full game replays where I try to break down the macro strategy of the game. I don’t usually focus too much on individual mechanics or strategies in this series. Instead, the main goal is to discuss big topics like vision control, objective control, team fight positioning, how to exploit mistakes, and how to recover when behind. Doing these videos is incredibly time intensive so I will usually only do them if it’s for a team or premade game. If I can establish a larger base of subscribers I plan on doing subscriber games on the weekends that I will break down and commentate on just like these videos.
Quick Tips These are shorter videos (usually excerpts from the Random Ramblings videos) that discuss specific tactics like how to deal with a 1v2 lane, how to CS under tower or what to do when the enemy jungler is camping you. If there are particular things you struggle with in league this is the place to go and I’m always open to recommendations for new videos.
Ramblings on Life These are videos that focus on non-gameplay related topics like toxicity and how to get over fear of public speaking. These really are viewer request videos. If you are struggling with something in life let me know and I’ll make a video on it (leaving you anonymous if you want.) Topics I’m thinking about covering in the future include relationships/break-ups, how to choose a college/major, and suicide and/or depression.
None of these videos should be taken as absolute truth. Instead, these videos are designed to show my solution to a particular problem or situation and be a catalyst for discussion and debate. I’m not saying I have all the answers, I’m just trying to start a conversation with people who enjoy the same game I do and most likely are going through the same struggles in life that I went through. If I can help even a single person with their problems or make them think of something in a new way that they wouldn’t have thought of then I consider that a success.
I hope you guys will check it out. This channel ultimately is for you so feel free to ask any questions or make any recommendations you want.
