Why you think matchmaking doesn't work and why Riot thinks it does
People tend to forget that Riot is a company that exists to make money. Ranked is a system that creates the feeling of accomplishment that causes people to continue to play and spend money. It is always in their best interest to make this process take as long as possible without causing you to quit trying.
Therefore the ranking system will always dangle a carrot in front of you but then create situations that make you have to keep playing more to earn it.
So we things like
-
Promotion matches - Matches you have to win after already winning enough matches to move up a tier. It would not be illogical to assume Riot wants you to lose these a few times to make you play more games.
-
a system that punishes winning too much - If you go on a winning streak the system will purposely place you against much higher opponents and give you a team that is much less skilled. Why? So you lose, and keep trying to climb.
-
A system that never forgives losses outside your control - You will never be compensated for having a leaver, troll, or any other type of situation. They dont want you to climb faster.
You guys have to realize when you're complaining about the ranking system that Riot wants it to take 1,000 games for you to reach your true rank. If you got there fast, you would strop playing because you would have nothing more to strive for.
