Most shields arn't passive, and most shields are a part of a champions HP block, for example if I auto someone with a bloodthirster shield it still counts as taking damage. Yasuo is probably the only one in the game with a shield like his.

Thats why he has a unique kit. They wanted him to be different. Sorry not everyone is q damage w move e shield r more damage. Like serious his kit is fun and sorry if you cant play against him. (Coming from someone who doesnt play yasuo)

Using summoner 21 doesn't count for damage, but I think it destroys the recall, making it pointless to use.

No, you can get executed and continue to channel things like reksai ult or recall, if the shield is strong enough.

That is how all shields work. Simply damaging a shield will not interrupt a recall, you need to damage their actual HP bar.
